One of the most famous attractions in Savannakhet. The Dinosaur Museum is very small and probably not up to international standards (it's the only museum I've ever visited where the climate control was only turned on because I arrived), but it is a unique visit for sure. The dinosaur, Tangvayosaurus, is evidently the pride of Savannakhet, shown on murals, street arches, and even the can of the local brew BeerSavan. It was found and identified in this province. The bones of this dinosaur are spread out through the cases in two rooms that make up the entire museum, along with a few other mixed specimens.
One thing I really liked is the display of the outline of Tangvayosaurus in lights on the wall, with some of the bones hung up inside it. It's simple, but gives a great feeling of how massive this creature was, which you don't fully get from looking at bones under glass.

A small building with an awful lot in it if you are interested already in geology and palaeontology. We learned a lot and got very close to wonderful, massive specimens. It far exceeded expectations.
