Mzaar was not up to Intercontinental standards we were expecting!

We had booked 2 rooms for the same price, one was much much more smaller than the other and had a broken shower handle. Rooms were clean, bed and pillows are very comfortable. The towels in one of the rooms were not clean, had a bundle of hair in one of the folded towels.

In terms of food and service it was horrible honestly, regardless that it appeared there's only 1 restaurant left on the hotel premises - although on check in we were told that "all" restaurants are on the 2nd floor - the service, cleanliness, and food were all bad. We waited 15 mins to get a table cleaned out, the waiter putting the cutlery on the table and serving us smelled horrible and his hands/nails were very dirty, we received red wine in water glasses instead of wine glasses, the nuts were served in a mini-plate you get for free with an advertisement for the nuts brand on it, the pasta I ordered was so overcooked that I needed a spoon to be able to eat it, on top of all that the waiter removed the food while we were still eating!

We sat in the lobby in the evening, the carpet was extremely dirty (traces of nuts and chips all over).

Breakfast was also a bad experience - we were 3 persons and they offered to clean a 6 seats table for us. Half the table was cleaned and we were expected to sit and have breakfast with the leftovers and dirty cutlery of the people who had breakfast before us next to us. We requested cutlery several times until they got cups for the three of us. Then one of the waiters removed the tea and coffee sachets from our table to put it on another table without asking us if we needed tea or coffee, we had to call him to put it back and get us hot water. In terms of food, "hot" plates from the breakfast buffet were super cold (e.g. foul).

We didn't really make a fuss of all of this and were planning to mention it at check-out but to our surprise at check-out no one asked us how was our experience/stay.

We had heard good feedback earlier regarding the hotel but our experience was very bad - so apparently they have inconsistencies depending on whether there's an event at the hotel or not.
