Went to this pulau mawar with family on 1 May 2023. It used to be free admission but currently a booth was setting up on the entrance and each visitor has to pay for RM5 per head. You have to jot down your details on the form. When we informed the person in charge that we would like to pay a visit to the gerbang laut pulau mawar as one of my friend was staying at Mersing and has been to this gerbang laut pulau mawar for numerous time. Therefore, he was our guide on that day. Surprising, the person in charge asked for one off additional payment (RM15). We were not sure why did we need to make the payment but we complied and paid. However, we did not receive the ticket for this additional payment (RM15) and when we checked on the price list, it was not listed on the price list either. Therefore, pandai2 la if you guys wanna visit this pulau mawar for hiking purposes. Perhaps we were too naive to tell the person in charge. After payment, we drove all the way to the car parks towards the end. Pulau Mawar has indeed look very nice. The beach looks clean on the entrance area There is few colour layers of the sea for what I can see. Certainly look safer and nicer to picnic and play some water. After parking our cars, we walked towards the other end towards the swamp when the tide was low at around 1.30pm. Please check your tide timing before going as you need to wait for low tide then only can hike thru towards this gerbang laut pulau mawar. Half way hiking, it rains suddenly but luckily it was just a transient . The overall hiking is considered easy to moderate as it can be physically challenging towards the end as you need to climb the steep slode with rope and then went down the stairs to see the gerbang laut pulau mawar. It rains the hiking trek might become very slippery. We spent around 2 hours there taking photos and enjoying the view. We went back at around 3.30pm and the tide is becoming higher. Yet still have some tourists didn't care and went hiking inside. NOT recommended as once the tide becomes higher and you might trap inside till the next day. We met two Mersing department officers came to remind tourists to get out from the gerbang laut pulau mawar before the high tide returns. In short, it is worth to pay a visit if you are...
Read moresmall island with a majestic view, no need for a boat to go to this island, just by foot, there is a benteng pasir connecting this island with pantai mawar. during high tide the benteng slightly immersed in sea water but still can cross by foot.
trail track to the Gerbang Laut is well develope with a guide rope along the way to the end. there is a little rock slope need has to climb up to reach the gerbang laut, round 20 feet height, but dont worry, there is a rope which really help to climb the rock, and there is a sturdy wooden ladder to climb up and down the hill. unsuitable for kids and eldery.
the view is stunning , but unfortunately there some trash which we belive its adrift and strandded from the sea. overall the place is instagramable and lot of good spot for photoshoot. not recomend...
Read moreNever imagined to see such astounding rock formation in Penyabong . Subhanallah. Mawar Island Arch or Gerbang Pulau Mawar. It is a gigantic rock arch as if welcoming visitors from the sea. To get there from Mersing Geopark, we will have to cross almost a half kilometre sand bridge which will reveal itself only during low tide that will allow people to walk on and cars especially 4x4 driven on it. Then A short 10 to 15 minutes trekking through a mangrove and followed by a little bit of perilous climbing. For safety sake, it would be nice if the local council could build a proper ladder and put in place the necessary safety features. This rare geo formation must be preserved. It is a gift from God. ...
