We were the third to arrive, the first group was motorboating to some far away places, while the second was also picnicking to view the sunrise. 6am is just nice to pick your best spot and wait for the wheel of nature to turn. The beach crowded a bit after 9am but still plenty of free spots, unlike the other side of the beach (pantai biru) probably because Pantai Biru is circled with many public amenities. Here, only one portable toilet cubicle available which is quite pricey (rm1-rm2 per use, excluding the price of water) and a prayer cabin. Hawkers will start setting up stalls at noon, but not many to choose from. In the evening, you may get a chance to ride banana boat or snap some fresh crabs, where the sellers will go around offering good prices to the beachgoers. The beach itself consists of hard sand and the waterline is very shallow only up to the knee. Underneath is deep mud and certain areas can sink up to above the ankle. Due to the muddy nature of the seabed, water is murky and can have a bit of unpleasant smell.
