DAHLET QORROT - ONE OF GOZO'S TREASURES I took a random road from Nadur (east on Road 109) and ended up at Dahlet Qorrot Bay, about a 30-minute walk or a 7-minute drive from Nadur. This lovely little bay is skirted by boat houses (caves) carved from limestone. Each has a brightly colored door and holds fisherman's boats and gear. You will find crystal-clear water, a small beach, benches, boat launches, a picnic table, and a public toilet. There are stairs leading to cliffs overlooking the bay and the bright blue Mediterranean. On a clear day, you can see Sicily 60 miles away. There is another inlet to the north with a secret beach and several places to sit or picnic. To get there, take a short swim from Dahlet Qorrot or walk back up the hill until you see an opening in the white wall. Take the narrow path down to the rocky beach. If you walk from Nadur, the walk back will take longer than 30 minutes — it is uphill — all the way! It is a beautiful, quiet walk on a paved road through gorgeous farmland. I met a friendly farmer that told me about his broad bean crop. I was fascinated by some incredible rubble walls high up on the north side of the road. It was private property, so I resisted my urge to explore them. If you go, I suggest you bring water and a snack. On a sunny day, a hat or sunbrella will be helpful. Have fun, ~MaryGo PS: I've just learned a food truck is...
Read moreOff the beaten track, but the road down isn't the narrowest on the island by some way. No problem for a typical smaller rental car and spaces for several cars to park right on the harbour wall. Small patch of sand and a concrete breakwater to sit on, with some benches and other places to sit. Toilets and a snack bar here serving hot food as well as drinks and ice creams, etc. The water is crystal clear and great for snorkelling. Water shoes or similar recommended as getting into the water from the beach is rocky underfoot. There are ladders on the harbour wall so jumping in and climbing out is great fun for kids. There's also a boat slipway which might be an easier route into the water for snorkellers wearing fins. Unless the wind is coming directly off the sea this bay is nice and sheltered and a bit of a sun trap. This is a hidden gem of a beach if you want something less frantic than Ramla and you aren't bothered about...
Read moreBeautiful beach, with local feel, not many English there that we could hear. We went end of june, really good visibility, saw lots of marine life and an octopus! BRING CASH. Had an awkward reaction from grumpy woman behind the drinks place when the revolut app wasn’t working and it was looking like I couldn’t pay, got told to come back tomorrow and pay “if I’m an honest person”. Luckily some fellow tourists helped me out. Also bear in mind there is very little phone signal there which made ordering an uber back...
