The new beach at Balluta is a welcome addition to the area. It has been fitted with showers and recycling bins. It’s perfect for non swimmers like me with its gradual incline (unlike swimmers who can jump off the rocks locally). The beach is attended by two lifeguards too. The only drawback is the sand is very hard and compacted and already full of cigarette ends despite only being opened two weeks ago. The sea is also very cloudy from the sand dredging, I assume. I’m not sure how it will withstand winter storms without a breakwater but we shall see. The idea is great and very welcome. UPDATE Sept 2018 - the storms have already claimed this beach. Showers and bins removed. The sea has overtaken most of the sand. Still a nice spot but don’t come thinking you can lay on a towel, it’s back to sitting on the steps.

It’s literally a beach in the middle of St. Julian. This is only in Malta because it looks clean and safe. St. Julian’s is beautiful and this is the highlight to be able to access a public beach so easy and next to your hotel. Literally you will be walking here the narrow streets of Malta 🇲🇹 Let’s not forget it’s clean, old and ancient. For sure this is not the Caribbean but it’s pretty good for having not shore line. Malta is on a huge rock.

This little beach is located in the middle of the city which makes it very convenient. The water is calm and quite warm. The beach however is quite small and full of cigarettes butts. In case of crowded beach, you can either use the stairs to sit and tan or go a bit further to another little beaches, the closest being 2min away but it is just concrete. Good to know there are 2 cabins where you can dress/undress yourself.

Balluta Bay Beach es un lugar encantador y pintoresco en Malta que ofrece una experiencia relajante junto al mar 🌊. Es impresionante cómo esta playa está en medio de la ciudad, lo que le da unas vibras especiales y únicas. La playa, aunque pequeña, es muy agradable y cuenta con aguas cristalinas que son perfectas para nadar y refrescarse ☀️. A pesar de haber ido en temporada baja (principios de octubre), la playa estaba bastante concurrida, por lo que se recomienda llegar temprano si buscas un lugar cómodo para instalarte. El ambiente es tranquilo, lo que la convierte en un buen lugar para relajarse y disfrutar de un día al sol. 🌊 El agua tiene buenas temperaturas que invitan a meterse. Alrededor de la playa, hay varios cafés y restaurantes donde puedes disfrutar de un refrigerio o una comida mientras contemplas las hermosas vistas de la bahía 🥪🍹. La arquitectura del área es encantadora, con edificios históricos que añaden un toque especial al entorno. Aunque no es la playa más grande de la isla, su atmósfera acogedora y su belleza la convierten en un destino que definitivamente vale la pena visitar. ¡Una experiencia encantadora y refrescante! 🌅

This beach is really unique giving the surrounding although those looking for a proper sandy beach in the real sense of the meaning may find it somewhat disappointing. It is however perfectly located and nicely composed into the city. There are good restaurants around offerings a view over the beach. Certainly worth visiting for an unusual experience.

I wonder how naive the tourists are? Balluta Beach has literally one of the dirtiest waters in Malta (with all the restaurant sewage dumped there)… please read local social media groups - all the warnings are there. Also the locals never swim here. Try to walk just 300m away to the Exiles beach - not perfect yet much better!
