Read moreWe played here for 2 days. Contrary to expectations, the golf course is hilly and not just flat. The white tee box is fun, but you should be able to hit 180 meters with the driver. As you can see in the pictures, it is quite narrow at the tee and the fairway is far away. Playing along the sea is great. Insider tip: After teeing off # 12, there is at the left bend a delicious grilled lobster with a salad plate. Well worth a detour or afterwards. The # 18 has two greens. Especially for the pros and those who want to lose one, two, ... points (try it’s fun). Left, the simpler one but also very nice. The course is very crowded. We had booked the course twice for 10:50 and had a written confirmation. When we arrived, we were told was nothing booked. We had to wait until 1:30 p.m. and the slow game in front of us made it dark on the last holes. We played in hurry. No balls were prepared on the paid driving range and I had to collect them myself. There was no water, towel for the seat of the cart, ball washer and no refreshing towel. You can buy a bottle in the shop and fill it yourself. The marshal does not bring any water on the course either, but complains that you are playing too slowly, although you are already playing the flight in front of you, almost in the heels. The booked tee time was not granted to us, but then not checked at the box. The service is poor for the price and far from the standard in Mauritius. This does not do justice to the designer from Anhausen. The course is demanding, and we loved to play it, but we didn't feel welcome. We met several golfers who had the...
Read moreI’m a beginner, so naturally I found this course challenging but not hopeless. I appreciate the optimism of giving me three balls with the rental equipment but I bought another 24, found five and still needed to borrow one (Nigel if you read this, contact me, I didn’t find you to return your ball). Tough course, some long drives where if you don’t land them perfectly, your ball’s gone. Even a lot more experienced golfers gave up on a few of those. Staff was moderately friendly, the assortment of souvenirs is not great, prices high but you’re paying for a well-maintained course, the view, parking and boat are included. We were rushed a lot by the groundskeeper, even though we kept a steady pace within regulations, were only held up by a larger group in front of us, so that’s a downside.
Note: it doesn’t say on the website how to get there. The normal ferry only starts operating at 9 am but for golfers, it starts as early as 6:40. Took me a while to find that out.
Had a great time, will do it again if I can and bring more balls. Glad I did it, not sad I’ll try...
