What a gem! If you traveled the valley then you have likely been to beautiful tasting rooms above the top of hills with incredible views, etc etc. Sol Y Barro is not exactly that, its small, quaint, and really a taste of true artisanship. The gentleman that owns this vineyard kindly greeted me into his tasting room one afternoon to allow me to sample his "reserve" tasting and i was taken back by FINALLY in the years i have been coming to the Valle i found a wine that was worthy of purchasing a bottle (actually 3). If wine is what you seek and not photo ops for your Instagram then this is your stop. Bottles were not inexpensive by any means but if you have had as much wine in this Valle as i have then you take the chance to finally be able to take a peace of this place home with you to enjoy and bring back the memories you created in these...
Read moreOne of our favorite spots in Valle. There’s a lovely outside setup looking out onto the valley where they do the pours since the tasting room is closed. It feels very safe in these weird covid times. We’re always surprised at how long we’ve stayed.
The guy that does the pours is delightful and funny makes us want to come back soon, although I do kinda feel bad for him because we always see him having to tolerate a bunch of aging drunk gringas trying to take him home for a night.
