Viñas de Garza — Attraction in Baja California

On every trip, especially vacations, there are hopes and expectations. Most of the time, one hopes that expectations can be met, but rarely does one come across a situation where reality far exceeds expectations. This was the case during our visit to Vinãs De Garza in February of 2024. We were a group of 7 friends from San Diego in our 50s and 60s, visiting Baja for a weekend of wine and food tasting. As we drove into the winery, our eyes feasted on the curvaceous and unique rock stone walls contrasted with tall agave plants. It's a tableau in itself!! We parked on top of the hill and as we exited our van, the gentle noon breeze and the views caressed our senses as if to forewarn us that we were in for a pleasant surprise; this feeling got stronger on the walk towards the wine tasting area with stone, wood, olive trees, and rustic farm pieces tastefully lining the path towards a stone building. The tasting area itself is located on nearly the highest point of the property, and consists of a large terrace with 180 degree views of the surrounding vine slopes. The architecture and design of the place is modern rustic, with natural materials, plants and boulders married together in a symphony of taste and earthy beauty. The staff were very friendly and attentive, they made us feel at ease from the get go. The owner came by to welcome us and offer us a tour of the property, which was the highlight of our visit. We toured the multiple areas where wines are fermented and stored, and learned about the genesis of the winery, it's operations, and most importantly it's ethos. By the end of the one hour tour, our brains and taste buds were eager to taste the wines on offer, which we enjoyed tremendously along with the breads they offered (the Brioche was superlative even for the French couple in the group).

Visiting Vinãs De Garza was indeed a pleasant surprise, a rare experience where expectations are left in the dust. The visit was by far the highlight of our trip to Valle de Guadalupe. Personally and as a group, we are very thankful to the owners and staff for their warm welcome, and we are in awe of their achievement in creating this little paradise for all visitors. I’m an avid wine drinker and take tours to El Valle so I like to explore the wineries before I take people so here’s my review for this place: Front staff was not very friendly or welcoming. The lady up front was telling us we forcefully had to all purchase tastings to be able to sit at a table and the people in our group who weren’t gonna purchase tastings had to wait outside. First of all our group likes to purchase bottles and cheese boards, she didn’t even offer us any other option and she said She didn’t allow the people that didn’t want to purchase tastings to use the restroom. No wonder the place was empty. Never going back. I definitely don’t recommend this place. If there’s one thing I look for in a place, it’s customer service and this place really lacks. Save your trip there and go to places more friendly where your entire group can enter and sit together even if they don’t drink wine, but might drink something else. There are way better places out...

Por mucho es la mejor vinícola de todo el valle. Los que escriben comentarios despectivos es porque están acostumbrados a la experiencia vinícola en Querétaro o van a embriagarse y no degustar de un buen vino

En primera en Valle de Guadalupe las degustaciones no son costosas y la razón es que la idea es que no te vayas a embriagar sino que degustes los vinos y te lleves a casa una botella o la compres cuando regrese a casa y estés en algún restaurante

El señor garza es de los productores más respetados del valle. ¿Por qué? Porque es de los pocos que no producen vino por producir, sino que respeta la maduración exacta de la uva y además dependiendo de cómo se va comportando el vino decide cómo va a terminar su producción: en barrica, en jarros de cemento o como hará el ensamble. Eso te habla de que no compromete la calidad del vino

Todos los alimentos que ofrece son de altísima calidad y se venden por separado porque no a todas las personas les gusta lo mismo

¿Quieres la experiencia más impresionantes del valle? Paga la experiencia premium que incluye un recorrido y cata privada con el señor garza. Donde incluye degustación de etiquetas gran reserva. Ahí sabrás que probaste el mejor vino del valle disponible. Simplemente es impresionante la calidad de su vino

Llevo 6 años seguidos yendo a viñas de garza y 3 años seguidos yendo a la experiencia premium Con el señor garza y no tengo ningún grupo de amigos que no haya quedado maravillado con la experiencia

Te garantizo que después de esa experiencia simplemente nada se compara en el valle de Guadalupe

Ojo: no puedes llegar y pedir la degustación ya que solo es para 8 personas, se reserva por anticipado y solo hay una al día

¿Quieres probar un gran vino del señor garza? Prueba Amado IV o cualquiera de la línea gran reserva. Claro está que debes decantarlo y esperar a que abra por completo para que exploten todos los sabores

Viñas de Garza es de las pocas vinícolas que no les interesa producir por producir y si no tienes un proyecto que vaya de acuerdo a los valores del valle de Guadalupe simplemente no te vende sus vinos
