A small vineyard with great architecture, amazing views, and surprisingly good (reasonably-priced) wine. Tastings are $180 pesos (about $10 USD) for three wines: a crisp white (Chardonnay-Blanc, I think) with strong notes of green apple, a wonderful medium Petit Syrah-Tempranillo blend with a spicy finish, and an earthy (but not overwhelming like some Baja wines) Tempranillo-Cab Sav blend. You also get some bread with cheese and olive oil. The staff is extremely friendly, if not the most knowledgeable about the winemaking process.
For the quality of the wine, the bottles are very good value: the Petit Syrah only cost us $390 pesos--about $20 USD, and I would have happily paid $100 more for it. They accept credit cards with a 4% fee, although the bank connection is a bit spotty so you might want to bring cash in case. You can taste inside the room at a large wooden table, or outside on a terrace overlooking the valley.
An important recommendation is to call ahead. We didn't and had no problem, but the place is frequently rented out for events.
It's worth visiting Close de Tres Cantos for the architecture alone, but the wine is also worth the...
Read moreClos De Tres Cantos was a stop on our way out of Valle de Guadalupe today. We chose it because it looked interesting and was convenient. So glad we did.
When we first arrived on the hilltop, there were a few larger groups and the small tasting area was busy, but by the time we left, there was only a group of 4 left, so we must have hit a peak time.
Very interesting design for a winery and tasting room. We were warmly welcomed and shown very friendly and knowledgeable service. Wine pours were about average sized and the wines were enjoyable.
We enjoyed our visit and would recommend this spot to anyone visiting the Valle looking for a small/medium sized...
Read moreI’ve been here in the past and had a great time, but on my most recent experience our hostess just went over and above. Firstly she squeezed us in when my assistant made us a reservation that didn’t get confirmed. Then she gave us the wine and chocolate presentation in both English and Spanish (mixed group). And we even debated some philosophy. Highly recommend this vineyard. I especially appreciate that they are super environmentally conscious and do everything organically + strive to save water.
I highly recommend the wine and chocolate tasting. But make a (confirmed) reservation. We lot lucky that they were able to...
