National Museum of Ceramics — Attraction in Jalisco

The people who work here are obviously passionate and knowledgeable. It’s a small museum filled with locally made ceramics. Nothing is labelled beyond the artist and name of the work but the young man working there was walking around telling visitors about the significance of the pieces. I was the only one in there for a while so he told me a lot (in English!). It was fascinating to get an insight into the local culture and history through these works. Es un museo muy bonito y es gratuito!!

Considero que le hace falta mucha difusión para que más gente lo conozca. En cuanto al concepto museográfico, me gustó que todas las piezas tienen su cédula con nombre, autor, técnica y participación en algún concurso, etc., Las salas también tienen una breve explicación sobre la técnica de barro/cerámica que trata dicha sala; hay señalamientos de protección civil y eso también es importante. Vi que en la parte superior hay una cédula con QR code que te lleva a otra breve explicación en la página del museo; eso está padre y estaría mejor si hubieran más cédulas de ese tipo (solo ví esa). Le hace falta mantenimiento estético y museográfico también, la explanada/jareon que está techada también require mantenimiento y limpieza, como hay un techo con vigas, las palomas se queda ahí y ensucian todo el piso; ese espacio podría aprovecharse para otras actividades culturales y/o educativas que acercaran a la comunidad a participar con el museo. También ví que hay una tipo sala de proyección o donde alguna vez proyectaban algo, que también está muy desaprovechado; igual podría haber alguna actividad tipo cine para los visitantes. Why isn't this place open? I visited this past Sunday and looking forward to it but when I arrived the door was closed. I knocked on the door, no one answered. It was mid-day and during their opening hours. I then looked through their windows and there were just empty rooms. I thought, did they closed down??
