This museum is wonderful and it's free too! It seems to be a converted colonial mansion and it's been kept in great shape with the original pasta tiles, (it's what the colourful tiles are called here). It's located at the edge of the main city market and there's a beautiful large outdoor terrace on the upper floor where you can get a great view of it. The museum features the history of the city on the first floor and has galleries on the second that show contemporary, mostly Mexican artists. I'd highly recommend that you visit this museum ( it's nice and cool from the air conditioning) and then pay a visit to the Galvez market. The two of these will give you a wonderful experience...

The first thing you'll notice about it is the air conditioning. It feels spectacular! The second thing is that no one will ask for a ticket as the place is free to tour. Nice! Then as you wonder about inside you'll run into some neat exhibits and especially nice models of old Maya city of T'hó and Merida itself. It is free, but there aren't that many things to look at, which is fine for the cost. On the ground floor there is a history exhibition and on the upper two floors various artists...
