Giving a rating based on my experience for United Airlines Arrival and Departure. To arrive you come in Terminal 1 and walk down a hallway with glass dividers. Then you go down the escalator and you go thru the little machine that checks your passport and prints a little receipt you keep with your passport. Then you walk forward and your bags are on the left. Then you go to the right and big doors open and you see everyone waiting for their family. Go to Door/Puerta 1-4 and call an Uber cost like around $200. The Uber guy told me they aren’t allowed to pick up beyond door 4. On the departure I got an Uber to Terminal 1 again for $110 took about 30 mins at like 2am. Got dropped off at door 3-4 walked up the escalators second floor and followed signs to F1 hall which is where United Airlines check-in was. Got my bags check and my seat picked. Walked down the hall straight ahead international departures. Security was like 2 people in front of me. You don’t have to take your shoes off. Then I went to my gate 29 which was the same way I arrived just on the other side of the glass dividers and waited for my flight to Houston. You have to get your bags check back customs in the transfer to your final destination but shouldn’t take more than 30mins. My gate didn’t have any signs that indicated it was the right gate FYI and the employees don’t know it doesn’t say United Airlines or anything. There is a really nice cafe Urban Counter open at 2am . There was 1 set of bathrooms at the end. There was people catching flights to other parts of Mexico at 2am so it’s not completely empty. Overall if you have an early flight like 5:45 it’s super easy as long as you know where you are going because no one I met...
Read moreHad a great experience both coming in and departing from the airport.
Arrival was easy and customs was efficient; they put you through an individual scanner (US passport holders), so no stamps coming in. It is fast and you get a QR code for your time in the country. Getting an Uber is super easy outside (but set it up ahead of time).
Return trip was great. They recommend 2-3 hours arrival ahead of flight time due to traffic and security but we had time to spare due to lower traffic.
We were flying on Delta and went to check our luggage for the return flight; the staff are super friendly and we had a great experience. The check in process was quick and the line went fast- even for non priority people.
Security was not very efficient and we got through but the lines were unequal. You will need to put your things in a tray, but our line was out so we had to wait. Meanwhile other lines went faster. No stamp out; no customs to check you out.
I was hopeful for the lounge here, but it was under construction so no option. The lounge areas are difficult to find so signage could be improved.
Currency exchange personnel aren’t great but we did get a good rate for our exchange.
There aren’t many places to sit so seating could be improved, especially since there were a great deal of people who needed to be accommodated (elderly, disabled, limited mobility).
We did grab a bite to eat and prices were fair for the airport. Bathrooms were good and kept clean, even with so many people coming in. Our flight departed on time and didn’t delay. Overall a good experience and compared to other airports, this place was efficient, felt safe and...
Read moreTo call this place and its employees awful is an understatement, it's simply horrible. I was there about a year ago and it seems as though as nothing has changed regarding their poor service performance. The employees at every level and department; from customs to immigration and even the shop keepers and custodians are all unprofessional and indifferent in their manner.
My first experience began at 3:30 am as my flight arrived along with probably more than half a dozen that same time. As we arrived at the immigration and customs services we were let into a long hall before being seen by an immigration official. However, once there, their were practically more than 300 hundred people there all waiting to pass through immigration and only 3 immigration officers processing foreign passports. That crowd of 300 hundred swelled to more than 2,000 in less than an hour as more flights came in.
One single female officer was trying to bring order to the line of arrivals but when she realized the chaos was to great for her to handle, she simply left. At one point almost a fight broke out because people were cutting the line. People became so desperate that they had to go through the national passports line and hope that the officer there would not turn you away.
I know many are excited over the fact that there is a new airport being built. But if they don't change the way its managed than it might all be for nothing. I can tell you that people were so unpleased that they were promising to steer clear from this place even if it was for a conector flight. I don't regret taking a holiday in Mexico City, I regret having to go through...
