This is the best spot to cross into Mexico if you’re just looking to do a short day trip. You can park on the US-side for $4 (as of 5/11/24) and walk across to the MX-side for another $1/person. You walk across the bridge, over the Rio Grande and you’re there. There is a bag scanning area as you get to Mexico but it’s not like TSA, it’s more like a going-to-a-concert type of check. Be ready for the onslaught of vendors offering dental work, optometry appointments, laser hair removal, medications, etc, etc… I just “estoy bien” my way through it. On the way back there’s a small fee… it’s 30¢ that you put into a little turn-dial thing, so you will need change. There’s a kiosk there for people who need to convert $ to ¢ but it’s chaos… much easier if you have it on you already. (Side note: It’s been 30¢ for a few years, don’t know if that changes as frequently as the parking prices). This last time I went (5/11/24) they had A LOT of homeless people on the bridge MX-to-US side… I don’t know why they were up there, (it was past the 30¢ fee area too which had me wondering if they’re paying to be on that side IDK). They weren’t begging or doing anything wrong it was just surprising and hard...
Read moreI recently crossed the Progreso Internacional Bridge and had a phenomenal experience that deserves a 5-star review. The inspectors at the bridge were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the process a breeze. Their professionalism and courteous demeanor were truly commendable.

Read moreMy first visit at this crossing into Mexico. Parked on the US side, walked across with no complications, whatsoever. People were kind, respectful, and I believe people were glad to have us visit. We have all heard about border problems, however we had none! Once into Mexico, of course there were lots of people selling goods and services at every turn, however, here again no problems, or hitches. Completing our business we started back into the Great USA, and did encounter some wait at the check point by Border Patrol, due to the number of those returning to America. We had our US Passports, out visible, in hand, my cowboy hat off, including sun glasses. The Agent, who was very professional, and exact, took our photo, asked what we purchased, and asked to see our bag, and that was it! Those Agents have a very hard job, and sometimes scary, but the Agent was good at his job! Here again; no problem! We had fun shopping, donating to those less fortunate, and my son, who is a gifted musician helped a young boy, about 6, or 7 playing a guitar; replace a missing string, which he purchased; for the lad, and even played a song for those watching! We had a...
