Quiet beach, even found a little shade (on the far right beach). Decent snorkelling to the far left over the rocks - gets better the further left you go (although easier to enter the water on the far right). I only gave it a 4 b/c we went specifically for the snorkelling, and while it was great for where we were, we’ve been spoiled by a lot of brilliant snorkelling in other destinations. Although most easily accessible snorkel from shore locations have really been destroyed over time, making this a treat.
Worth noting that, at least as the waves were when we visited, this wouldn’t be a great location for your first snorkelling adventure, nor if you’re not super comfortable in the water. There are waves, and currents, to contend with that make this different from many protected bays that are much calmer.
Please also keep in mind that any managed areas where folks are actively trying to protect the reefs no longer allow fins as they result in a lot of degradation. They’re really not needed - snorkelling is mostly a floating activity! And never stand on or touch the reef, so we can maintain it for others...
Read moreBeautiful little bay for swimming, a little challenging to get there as not well marked. Very steep hill into the bay to drive down, there is a parking area right down the end on the right. There are 3 sections to the bay, so explore before you pick a spot. We encountered jelly fish when we first arrived, but they were almost completely gone not long after, you just had to keep an eye out. Food at the middle restaurant on the beach was amazing. 4 beers and 3 delicous octupus tacos for $390 (pesos) plus the chairs and umbrella for the day. We also got to see...
Read moreBeautiful little beach in three parts. We checked them all out but chose to spend our time at the most westerly.
There is some natural shade there. Entering the water was easy at all three parts--which have sections of full sand beaches--and snorkeling near the rocks was good.
All the restaurants on this day, except Restaurante July, were only preparing full plated dishes. Beer was plentiful.
Taxi from Puero Ángel muelle was 40Mx. From Playa Panteòn it is 70Mx. Zipolite to Estacahuite...
