Casa Roni — Hotel in Oaxaca

The hotel had beautiful views and the room was lovely however, the host (the front desk guy) lacked manners and communication. For example, he failed to inform us of power outages and continuous maintenance work that happened over the course of our stay. When we brought up our concerns to him he brushed them off and did not help (bug infestation and the loud constant drilling when my partner had a migraine). The owner informed us that breakfast was included due to our room upgrade (which we were very thankful of) and then when we checked out he told us that we had to pay for all of the breakfast’s that we had. I explained what the owner had said and he said that wasn’t true and said that he informed us of this in a text, but there is no evidence of that text. The house itself is very nice with a breezy rooftop palapa and beautiful views of the bay. The pool however was super disappointing 😞 the water was dirty and not maintained well. No lights in or around the pool at night. Definitely not for pool lovers like myself:( The property is charging boutique hotel prices with none of the services. This is a family's vacation home, not a hotel. One night here is plenty if you want to go to Playa Estacahuite which is down the hill and quite lovely for a swim and snorkel. WOW- We stayed in the beautiful 1 bedroom bungalow at Casa Roni for just 1 night- we wish we could have stayed forever. The bungalow (or apartment) was super spacious with everything we needed for the most comfortable experience. The views are MAGICAL, and the space calming. Superbly set up to take advantage of the magical cove the house is perched in. The photos are an accurate reflection of what you get. The internet is amazing so we were able to do some work while soaking in the views and drinking our morning coffee.
