I’ll start my review with a tip for those staying in Tulum center, who’d like to visit SFER IK UH MAY, affordably instead of hiring the price gouging taxis who told us it would cost us $70US one way 🤯 Thankfully we made friends with one of the owners in town who lives close by and gave us step by step instructions on how to get there via collectivo and tuktuk ($24US total).
NOTE- You will need cash for the collectivo, tuktuk, and entrance fee for SFER IK UH MAY. We went on 11/15/24. Take collectivo in Tulum center to Francisco Uh May. You’ll have to ask each collectivo driver if they go there before you find the correct one to take - be sure to show them on a map where you are going. Some of the drivers know the museum as, Azulik. You will want to get off the collectivo at the last stop in the center of Francisco Uh May - I noticed a school at the stop. Cost for the collectivo for 2 people was 70 pesos, one way. You can then catch a tuktuk in Francisco Uh May to SFER IK UH MAY/azulik. The tuktuk ride is about 10 minutes. You can choose to walk if you’d like to save additional $. Cost is 170 pesos for 2 people, one way. Tell tuktuk driver you will need him to pick you up when you are done (FYI- you will most likely have to tell him in Spanish. Our driver only spoke Spanish). Ask for his phone number so you can message him via whatsapp when you are ready to leave azulik. If driver does not have whatsapp, have the person at the front gate of azulik, take the drivers number and ask them to please call him once you are done.
This SFER IK location is definitely worth the entrance fee of 400 pesos. We spent 2 hours walking around taking photos. There’s a net sections to walk on, a hanging bridge to cross, views of the jungle from the rooftop and a walk through a garden to the restaurant. It is so so beautiful and provides what seems like endless photo opportunities. Since this location is a bit far out from Tulum, you won’t have to deal with many other folks who are visiting at the same time as you. Maybe it helped being there during low season (?) but we were alone for a good chunk of our time which made it easy to take photos without others in the background. Also, it made enjoying the whole area, effortless! We spent an additional hour at the restaurant for lunch, and taking photos. We were told we could only visit the outdoor area if we were dinning at the restaurant, however, while we were there, a few couples strolled through to look and take photos. I suppose you can say you’re interested in eating at the restaurant, ask to look at the menu and then change your mind? We were fine with not doing that though, as we were hungry and knew there were a few items on the menu that weren’t super pricy. I will say, their portions are bigger than what is served at SFER IK Tulum. Personally I’d suggest coming to this location instead of SFER IK Tulum because 1. There aren’t many people 2. It is a whole lot bigger!!! Loved the experience and felt like 400 pesos entrance fee was totally worth it. Those working the entrance also give you great background info on the creation of SFER IK UH MAY which I found fascinating. It took 8 months to build by 500...
Read moreAn incredible space that can't be described in words, you have to visit it in person. This is now my 4th visit in 2 years and it's magical every time. I'm envious of the people who work there and get to be in this space every day! I hosted a mental wellness retreat and had a day trip to Azulik here where we had the museum visit, lunch at Jungle Cuisine, and a sound bath healing experience (with Nuria) -- this was designed by Juan or his team around June 2023, and was unforunately not offered when my retreat was taking place in April 2024 -- but with the help of Daniela and Diana and others, they finally made it happen as an exception for my group, and I'm forever grateful for them, because it was the highlight of my 8-day retreat. The food was amazing and the meditation room acoustics was perfect for Nuria's sound bath experience. My parents also love this place and takes hundreds of photos every time they visit! Thank...
Read moreA MUST GO! If you like art and if you like the pictures you see here on the reviews, you must go! It’s totally worth the price. If you’re not sure if you need to visit UH MAY or TULUM, don’t even bother… SFER IK UH MAY is the main one. It makes you feel like you’re in heaven. Prepare to spend a good few hours there because there’s a lot to see and you can also chill there for a bit. My recommendation is to go there with a full stomach. The restaurant is very expensive and there are no good food options nearby. Only downside of this place is the road to get there. We saw 2 cars with a flat tire on the way. Roads are terrible which is very unfortunate given how gorgeous this place is. IMPORTANT: if you want to visit both Uh May and Tulum locations, be aware that you can get a 50% discount on one of the tickets if you decide to visit both places in one day. You just have to buy tickets...
