We had the best trip with Gilmer and Victor! We started at the Tulum Ruins, where we were dropped off for a self-guided tour. Gilmer offered to help find a tour guide once we were on site, but we opted to explore ourselves. After the ruins we kayaked in the ocean and snorkeled from there. I've gone on several snorkeling excursions, and this one was by far the best! Usually snorkel tours take you out on a boat or from a dock to an area with several other groups. Soliman Bay Tours takes you to a private area, and it was just our small group of 6! It all felt very natural as the guides do not feed or bait any fish to come. It was a LOT of swimming around to see things, but we saw so many amazing sea creatures! We saw a barracuda, conch, and a spotted eagle ray (just to name a few!). The cenote snorkeling was also very memorable. It was all of our first time in a cenote, and it was a really cool experience! We finished with a lunch from a local restaurant and it was the best meal we had all week in Riviera Maya! My family talked about the food for the rest of the trip!! Usually tours feel very rushed, especially when there are multiple activities planned, but we never felt rushed once! We are so grateful for Gilmer's (and Victor's) patience throughout the entire day and hope to join another tour during our next trip to...
Read moreWe went on the cenote snorkeling tour and bike ride. The tour started off with a cooking lesson with one of my favorite tacos: cochinita pibil. Gilmer explained the Mayan history, spices, and preparation methods for the pork. We prepared the marinade and salsa as a group and then set it on the wood fired stove to cook.
The bike ride to the cenotes was easy. Riding through the local neighborhood gave me a sense of authenticity.
The four cenotes we visited were beautiful- each with it’s own unique charm. Our group was lucky to have each cenote to ourselves when we arrived- a welcome change from the more popular larger cenotes that are overrun with tourists. Gilmer navigated us through the caves to ensure everyone was safe and comfortable.
The bike rides in between the cenotes were a nice little break to warm up in between snorkeling. Make sure to bring a towel with you to dry off. We finished the tour with the cochinita pibil tacos that were slow cooked during our tour. The meat was so tender and the tacos were extra satisfying knowing that we made that flavorful meal as a team.
I would highly recommend any of Gilmer’s tours. He is knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about providing an authentic view of Mexico’s beauty. I can’t wait to...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I booked a private Cenote Tour with Gilmer from Soliman Bay Tours based on their great reputation on TripAdvisor and Google Maps.
Gilmer was on time and brought us snorkeling gear and life jackets that were freshly sanitized and packaged.
Gilmer took us to three underground Cenotes and one above ground Cenote. They were all excellent and Gilmer timed our arrival so the Cenotes weren't busy and we had them mostly to ourselves. At one Cenote Gilmer guided us into a hidden portion of the Cenote that was completely closed off from the main portion. It was amazing in there and we would have never been able to find it if it weren't for Gilmer guiding us.
Gilmer's english was great and he was able to teach us a lot about the Cenotes and even gave us recommendations on what else to do while we were in Mexico.
We were extremely happy with Gilmer's service, low cost and our overall experience. I would recommend Gilmer and Soliman Bay Tours to anyone looking to explore the area and discover really...
