It’s perfect for those who love physical challenges, natural beauty, and a little bit of excitement in a jungle setting. Here’s a comprehensive review of the park:
Underground Rivers: One of the park's most unique features is the opportunity to float through an underground river system in a raft. The crystal-clear waters wind through caves and tunnels, creating a surreal and magical experience. It’s both tranquil and thrilling, and the scenery in these hidden underground caves is breathtaking.
Hammock Splash: This is a unique activity where you swing in a giant hammock and then release yourself to splash down into a pool of water. It’s a fun, thrilling experience and provides a break from all the intense activities.
Cave Exploration: The underground caves are another highlight of Xplor, where the underground rivers wind through stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are well-lit and safe to explore but offer an eerie and mysterious vibe.
Wildlife: While you won’t see large animals like tigers or elephants, you can expect to encounter various smaller jungle creatures like tropical birds, lizards, and insects, adding to the authenticity of the park’s environment.
Age and Height Requirements: Xplor is suitable for most visitors, but certain activities (like the zip lines and ATVs) have age and height restrictions. Children must be at least 6 years old to participate in certain activities, and there are weight limits for zip-lining.
Comfortable Clothing: Since the park involves water activities, dirt trails, and zip-lining, it’s best to wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. Water shoes are recommended, as you will be in and around water for much of the day.
Food and Amenities Xplor offers a buffet-style restaurant with a selection of healthy and hearty meals. The food is generally well-reviewed, with options that cater to various dietary preferences. You'll find a variety of dishes, including Mexican staples like tacos, grilled meats, and fresh fruit. It’s perfect for recharging after a long day of adventure.
Crowd Levels and Timing Since Xplor is a popular park, it can get crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. It’s recommended to arrive early to avoid long lines for the most popular activities, such as zip-lining and the ATV trails.
Cost Xplor is a premium experience and can be on the expensive side compared to other local attractions. The price includes all the activities (zip-lining, ATVs, rafting, and underground rivers), lunch, and necessary equipment like helmets and life vests. It’s an all-inclusive package, so once you’ve purchased the ticket, you won’t need to pay for any additional activities.
Overall Experience Xplor is an adrenaline-lover’s paradise. It provides a well-rounded mix of adventure activities that take you through the jungle and underground, all while being surrounded by natural beauty. Whether you're flying through the air on a zip line, speeding through the jungle on an ATV, or gliding through crystal-clear underground rivers, every moment at Xplor is packed...
This place was amazing! Exceeded expectations in every way!
This was a lot less money and whole lot more fun than Disney World a few years ago where all we did was stand in line, spend the day looking at our phones with their stupid app, and getting charged for every little thing.
On the contrary this was truly all inclusive and extremely well organized. It’s so easy and the experiences are amazing!
First off what you need to know is get there as early as you can and go on a Saturday if possible. Dress like you would for a water park and make sure to have water shoes (not sandals.) You get a locker included for anything else and you can keep your phone with you on most everything with those water phone bags you wear around your neck. You can also wear sunglasses on everything. No need for a hat as you will have to wear your provided helmet all day and once you’re there you’ll see why.
Once in, you can stow whatever else you have in the locker and go have fun. Hungry? Just wait until you see the spread they have available all day. We were literally shocked at the options and quality of the food and drink! Anything you can imagine and healthy options too…all included!
We did everything twice at least and before getting to that it’s important to note that just walking around is amazing! The caves are incredible and you keep going above and below ground and part of the fun is just wandering around and exploring it all!
The zip lines are incredible and the trick with them is that you do them once but can keep doing them as much as you want once you have the harness on. At the end just go right to repeat ride or do the three tower course (as opposed to the main seven tower one.) The idea here is that they just don’t want you coming back multiple times a day where you’d have to get the harness on and off.
The UTV vehicles were also incredible! So fun and the surprise of the trip as everyone loved them! You drive through caves, water, etc. and there are two courses and each is a few miles long.
The underground activities…river rafts, swim and river walk are all other-worldly and very safe with clean water! A lot of natural cenote tours can be dangerous but this is the way to do it!
Hammocks and hammock zip line were fun and you can see the HUGE water park and rides they are putting in which will be amazing when complete!
A note on the photo services…we did not do this and certainly you can take a lot of pics on your own but, I will say the way they have it setup is slick where you hit certain points and push a button and pose throughout the park at key photo op points plus they take your pics on all the attractions too so it might be worth it. There are also two big gift shops (that are not inclusive of course) and not cheap but did have some cool and not you your usual touristy stuff.
So yes, just so great to have our expectations exceeded for once, especially after Disney a year or so which was horrendous. After the third hour plus long wait at Disney (and thousands of dollars,) our kids wanted to go back to the hotel but here they didn’t...

We visited Xplor Park with a group of 10 and were very disappointed with the overall experience—especially considering the high cost and the reputation of Xcaret parks.
First and foremost, do not book shuttle transportation through Xplor/Xcaret. We made that mistake and it cost us valuable time. The shuttle arrived late in the morning, which cut into the limited hours we had at the park. Then, to make matters worse, they required us to leave 30 minutes before the park even closed—which meant more lost time. And we didn’t even leave right away—we sat on the bus for a while waiting. If you’re planning a visit, hire a private shuttle that can drop you off right when the park opens and pick you up right when it closes so you can actually enjoy the full experience. You will need every minute.
Even with a full day, it is still very hard to complete all of the activities without feeling rushed. We spent the entire day running from one attraction to the next, and it was more stressful than fun. That said, you can’t rush too much because the ground surfaces are extremely slippery, even with grip water shoes. One person in our group slipped and fell, and we saw several others nearly fall or catch themselves last-minute. Yes, there are wet floor signs everywhere—but they feel like legal disclaimers more than actual safety measures. Xplor really needs to take more proactive steps to prevent injuries.
Now let’s talk about the park itself: be prepared, because this is a physically demanding experience, even for people who are fit and healthy. There’s a lot of walking, including uphill walks in the sun to get to attractions like the water slide, long stretches of uneven and slick pathways, and multiple stair climbs for the zip lines. If you have any mobility concerns or just don’t want to feel exhausted by mid-day, this may not be the park for you.
Some of the activities were fun in theory, but fell short in practice. The dune buggies (amphibious vehicles) were especially uncomfortable—very bumpy and jarring, even for the younger people in our group. It felt more like being shaken around than having an adventure. And several of the more popular attractions had wait times of 45 minutes to an hour, which was frustrating considering how little time we had and how expensive the tickets were.
By the end of the day, we all felt like we didn’t get our money’s worth. The stress, the physical exhaustion, the wasted time due to poor transportation planning, and the long lines left us feeling like we could’ve spent our time and money elsewhere. For the price of admission for a group of 10, we expected a much more organized, guest-friendly experience.
We travel to this area of Mexico regularly and had high hopes for Xplor. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will be avoiding all Xcaret parks going forward. It’s unfortunate, because the concept is great—but the execution is...
