The tallest structure at Uxmal, this pyramid is an iconic building in Maya architecture. It possesses an unusual elliptical plan with three enormous platforms that support two temples. It is thought that the shape of the pyramid is supposed to reflect the shape of a traditional thatched Mayan roof.
