Mouhou Tours - Morocco Desert Tours — Attraction in Caïdat de Taouz

The tour was not as described on the website. The website makes it sound like an educational experience with a guide. We didn't have a guide; we had a driver. On day 1, the driver picked us up. He said nothing. We were confused if we were on the right tour. He never told us the itinerary or anything. He was rude. Lunch was supposed to be in a town with restaurants to chose from. Instead, we were a tourist trap buffet for 12 Euros.

When we got to the dessert, we were told to get out and grab our stuff without any more information. We had to get into the back of a pickup to head to the desert camp.

The camp was fine.

Most importantly, the two other couples in our van paid close to $200.00 US less, so shop around. There's no need to buy this tour in advance. After the terrible experience of day 1 and finding out we overpaid, I contacted the agency and asked for a partial refund. We got it. We ended up paying 350.00 Euros for 2 people for 3 days, instead of 500. In Marrakesh, you can find the same tour for 100 Euros per person.

We had a wonderful experience with Mouhou Tours. Our four-day private desert tour from Fez to Marrakesh exceeded our expectations. Omar, our young, upbeat and positive tour guide/driver went above and beyond to make our once-in-a-lifetime trip as memorable as possible. He even took us to meet his lovely mother and youngest brother at their home, where they had prepared a Moroccan feast for us. Omar kept us entertained on the road by telling us stories about himself and his family as well as presenting historical information about the different areas we visited. We also enjoyed listening to his eclectic musical playlist. Our camel trek through the Sahara Desert was a dream come true for us, and we were delighted with the luxury tented accommodation and the delish meals. We booked a three-day tour from Marrakesh to Fes and had a fantastic time!

Be prepared for some long days of driving. If you’d prefer a more relaxed pace with extra time in the desert, consider a four-day tour instead. Our driver, Hassan, was incredibly attentive and friendly, always checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. We also appreciated the flexibility he gave us to decide on activities as we went. The car was very comfortable, and our group was small, with just four people, so it was great that the tour still ran and wasn’t canceled due to group size.

We did encounter some issues with our upgraded desert camping option, but Mouhou Tours handled it very professionally, and we were satisfied with the resolution.

On the last leg of the journey to Fes, we joined a different group with a new driver and vehicle, so keep in mind you may end up traveling with other groups for parts of the tour.
