Ananda Temple — Attraction in Nyaung-U District

One and top favorite pagoda in Bagan for me.Going there is a must as it is the largest and the significance of Bagan.Everything is perfect,especially the architectures of the temple, the environment it exists and the uniqueness of it unlike other temples in Bagan.The four big standing statues of buddha are also too stunning and wonderful.And i was amazed that people in ancient bagan were too professional in constructing this temple as the temple was well preserved and fostered for more than 900 years. I am sure that visiting there wouldn’t regret for all of you if you are interested in ancient wall paintings and sculptures. There is also a big market outside the temple where you can buy nice and buy artworks of local artists and many souvenirs shops. One thing is that i would like to recommend to visit there in the morning or evening. And be aware to take off shoes and wear comfortable and appropriate clothes when you enter the temple. If you have enough time, i want to suggest to listen to the history of this temple from local kids( for foreigners: they can also speak English really well) and u can enjoy your visit to...

The Ananda Temple (Burmese: အာနႏၵာဘုရား, pronounced ànàɴdà pʰəjá]), located in Bagan, Myanmar is a Buddhist temple built in 1105 AD during the reign (1084–1113) of King Kyanzittha of the Pagan Dynasty. It is one of four surviving temples in Bagan. The temple layout is in a cruciform with several terraces leading to a small pagoda at the top covered by an umbrella known as hti, which is the name of the umbrella or top ornament found in almost all pagodas in Myanmar.
