This temple is more impressive from the outside- I was disappointed with the poor conditions and limited access inside. It was built by King Alungsithu in 1141. The description mentions " green glazed tiles, plaques, mural paintings...) but I didn't see much. A staircase to the upper part is mentioned but "No climbing" is allowed. Several souvenir and refreshment stall outside so it's a...

Shwe Gu Gyi Temple is a beautiful and easily accessible temple in Bagan. It offers great views of the surrounding area from its upper levels. The exterior carvings are impressive, though the interior is simple. There are many souvenir shops around, so expect a lively atmosphere with vendors. It’s a good place to explore while taking in the historic...

Intricate carvings on the outside of the temple with motifs representing elephants and a number of other animals. Pleasant place to escape the sun with a number of vendors selling sandals and lacquer wears. Beautiful views of the larger Buddhist temple next door
