ย ย ย Read moreThis is where the mountaineering expeditions for Annapurna Himalayan mountains start from. However, it's very popular in the Trekkers circuit as well. At 4130 feet above sea level, it is about a 1k feet below Everest Base Camp. But when I visited ABC on 10th April, it had more snow and was freezing than EBC in Oct. There are many homestays on the way, all sweet, small n cozy. No need to prebook if going by self. The route from Gandruk to ABC camp has a lot of steps to climb & descend. It's a moderate to difficult trek. You will meet many smiling foreigners on the way greeting Namaste. Nayapul - Gandruk (lunch) - Kimrong Danda (night) - Chomrong (lunch) - Sinuwa (night) - Bamboo (lunch)- Himalaya (night)- Duvan (lunch, night) - MBC (brunch) - ABC(night). The route has Red rhododendron trees lined up. The entire trek was beautiful, the stays were adequate and the food at the halts was really tempting. It's not a very expensive trek. We were told by the Tourist office whole booking our trek permits that taking a guide has now become mandatory from 1st April, however am not sure of the applicability of the rule. Indian currency is mostly accepted on the route, however I strongly recommend carrying Nepal currency. Per day costs would be approximately Nepali rupees 500 for stay and 500 for every meal, per person. So more camps you break at your costs would rise accordingly. There is a provision for Helicopter evacuation at last camps ABC and MBC run by Chopper services Prabhu and Dynasty. You can reach Pokhara airport in flat 15 minutes from ABC on...
ย ย ย Read moreThe journey to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) offers one of the most mesmerizing experiences in Nepal. Beginning from Pokhara, the trail gradually ascends through charming villages like Ghandruk and Chhomrong, where the warmth of local hospitality blends beautifully with the natural surroundings. Along the way, trekkers pass through dense rhododendron forests, sparkling streams, and terraced farmlands that reflect the essence of Himalayan life.
As the trail climbs higher, the air becomes cooler, and the scenery transforms dramatically. The majestic peak of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) often appears in the distance, its snow-covered summit glowing brilliantly under the sun. The route through Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp builds anticipation for the final destination.
Upon reaching Annapurna Base Camp, at an elevation of 4,130 meters, a breathtaking panorama unfolds. The mighty peaks of Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Fishtail rise high above, forming a natural amphitheater of snow and rock. The sunrise and sunset views are truly magical, bathing the mountains in shades of gold and pink.
The peaceful environment, the crisp mountain air, and the quiet power of the Himalayas leave a lasting impression. It feels as though nature reveals its purest form here โ serene yet awe-inspiring. The experience of Annapurna Base Camp is more than a trek; it is a deep encounter with beauty, culture, and the timeless spirit of...
