MP.. Manjushri Park, located in Kirtipur, Nepal, is a serene and culturally significant destination that offers a blend of natural beauty and spiritual significance. This park is dedicated to Manjushri, a revered bodhisattva in Buddhist tradition known as the embodiment of wisdom. Situated atop a hill in the historic town of Kirtipur, the park provides stunning panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. The park is adorned with beautiful gardens, walking paths, and statues of Buddhist deities, including an imposing statue of Manjushri. It serves as a peaceful retreat for meditation, prayer, and relaxation, allowing visitors to escape the bustling city life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. The park's design reflects Buddhist architectural elements, with prayer flags and stupas enhancing its spiritual ambiance. Manjushri Park also holds cultural importance due to its association with the legend of the formation of the Kathmandu Valley. According to mythology, Manjushri is believed to have drained the valley's ancient lake by cutting a gorge at Chobhar, making the valley habitable for human settlement. Visitors can enjoy not only the serene atmosphere but also the opportunity to learn about Buddhist teachings and traditions. The park often hosts cultural and religious events, attracting devotees and visitors interested in Nepal's rich heritage. With its spiritual significance, scenic views, and peaceful environment, Manjushri Park stands as a unique attraction in the historical town of Kirtipur.

A beautiful place with a scenic view. The river flowing during peak monsoon is scary yet captivating. It is also a historic and mythological place dedicated to the legend of Lord Manjushree. The mythology blends the geological fact that over a million years ago, tectonic activity dammed a river, creating a vast lake in the Kathmandu valley. And, Lord manjushree, prophesied by ancient texts, was said to have drained the lake by cleaving hill with his sword at Chobar and other gorges (Gokarna, Gaurihhat and Katuwal daha) Also, before draining the lake it was said to be a Naag Dahab(Lake of Nagas) ruled by snake gods. By draining the lake Lord Manjushree provided a fertile and habitable land for people to live and thrive. And he created new homes for the Nagas (Taudaha and Nagdaha), where people honor and pay homage to them for being the guardians of the water body and natural environment.

This place has been one of the most goto place for me since many years. The cool breeze and the slopy landscape makes it more beautiful. You will see many families enjoying their time over here and having fun. Down under the place right above the river is a gateway to a cave too. You can watch the mystery this place carries. The surrounding is also very clean and people are very friendly over there. There used to be caged animals around too before in the area for the visitors to see and click pictures and feed them, but now the animals there aren't any. This cool place has entry fee of just Rs. 30/-. Which is very affordable, you can bring your own food or buy from outside too and have a good time here. Best place for the Best combo of sunbath and music. Attached photo: is the recently built tower structure in the mid of the area.

This park is dedicated to goddess Manjushree; it is believed that goddess Manjushree made Kathmandu valley livable. By building a water path between two mountains, the water of the Kathmandu valley was sent out to make the city of Kathmandu livable. This park is located at Chobhar, Kirtipur. Nearest park to escape from the chaos of the city of Kathmandu. It is beautifully designed where people from any age can come here and enjoy it. One can hear the sound of river water as it is situated by bagmati river. It has now ZipLine as well which gives it one more attraction to enjoy. Naturally rich park with different flowers. It is nowadays open till 7pm and one can enjoy the mesmerizing sunset which is absolutely beautiful.

This little park is reachable both from Chobhar and Kirtipur and you will need to pay a small entry fee. It is a bit steep and not very accessible for people with disabilities/problems walking. The views of the river are amazing and the park is lush during monsoons. The stone garden part is snall but great for exploring for children (under supervision). The restrooms near the front gate were also relatively clean. Most of the caves/paths were off limits when we visited in 2021. It could also be a little more well kept (we could see the littering by visitors). I would advise wearing mosquito repellant especially if you ate going with small children.
