Pretty quiet sunny saturday with lots of fun. Here my detailed review:
So after researching a bit, Mid-April (before the dutch holidays start) seems to be the best time to visit. The park was far from being crowded on a saturday. The weather was clear sky and it was almost as warm (24°C) as in early summer. The lines were all 0-10min, except for Untamed (up to 45min) and the new Raptors YOY (up to 25min).
The entry fee was pretty cheap with 34€ on that saturday, else its 44. Though the car park fee is 12€, which I thought was too much. The ticket scanners at the entry gate had a system failure but the staff helped us easily out. I noticed there is no security check, where they look through backpacks or so. Got no issue with that tough.
In the park I mainly went for the roller coasters, here are the main rides: • I first headed to the brand new dueling RMC Raptors YOY, I never rode one before. First the green thrill side: I immediately got to the train and went to the back seat. Pretty fun ride, the trains are always dueling. Its not as intense as expected and the airtime not as heavy. The chill blue side is as much fun but far from being a "family ride", it just has no inversions but still packs a punch. I think riding in the front gave a bit more airtime, you really get whipped out. Really enjoyed those.
• Next I headed to the rather abandonned looking Intamin mega coaster Goliath. Took the backseat: that ride surprised me with very strong ejector airtime. The ride is like: first part- wow, middle part - meh, last part - wow
• Forward to the famous Untamed. This was the only ride in the park that got a wait of 40-45min. Sadly also the only ride operating with 1 train only. Untamed surely is the best ride in the park, no rattling, so much ejector airtime that my left leg was hurting from the restraint. It is a much more thrilling ride than both YOYs.
• Next up was the Big Dipper Lost Gravity, had a short 10min wait. That one was pretty good, the twisted dive drops are incredible, also good airtime.
• Speed of sound, old Vekoma boomerang, was following up. That one also surprised me. Might be the best old boomerang out there. It got the newer trains with vests and some theming. In the station there was an EDM party going on.
• Then Xpress Platform 13, like Disneys Rock'n Roller Coaster but outdoors. Though this was sadly the only ride in the park with a queue that is indoors and gives shade. Everywhere else you stand in the plain sun. The queue is well themed and even seems like a haunted attraction with those dark alleys. The coaster is fun, only the last corkscrew was a headbanger.
• Last but not least I rode the infamous Condor. Gladly it also has the new trains with vests. By far a much better SLC experience than most. It still rattles but its not hurting.
At the end, I managed to get 2-3 rides on all the interesting rides/coasters. In the afternoon I really felt the elevated speed/intensity on Untamed, Lost Gravity and Goliath.
I liked that they also had free bins/lockers at each ride station to put your stuff in.
Also wanted to try that giant skydive/swing but didnt got to it at the end (not open whole day).
Theming: In things of theming, its nice but not on the level of Walibi Belgium. The park is great if you look for thrills.
Food/Drinks: I thought it was rather below average. Also the girls working in the chicken thingy restaurant (dont remember the name) confused orders and worked like its their first day.
Verdict: ++ good choice of thrill-rides (even managed to to take care of their terrible coasters, like Condor, by replacing trains) entry price is not high compared to other parks many family rides ~ theming is mid car park price almost 1/3 of park entry price some bugs on the app, ticket scanner issue (maybe their informatics dep. has some problems) food & drinks are...
Read moreHaving been a theme park fan for nearly two decades, I've been lucky enough to visit Walibi Holland several times over the last five years and have always had an enjoyable experience. Since my last trip, the park has really stepped up its game, adding the roller coasters Untamed and YOY, among other general improvements.
I'll start with the highlights. Untamed, the RMC conversion of their old roller coaster, is absolutely sensational. It flies through the track for a truly exhilarating ride. YOY, their new duelling single-rail roller coaster, was also great fun and is definitely a fantastic addition to the park. Another favourite of mine was Goliath, a massive coaster that glides through huge sweeping hills and turns—a great ride. There are also plenty of rides that aren't roller coasters, including an awesome three-drop log flume and a river rapids ride.
The park itself felt clean, safe, and well-maintained. The new additions, including the roller coasters and rides themselves, and even entire areas, felt fresh and vibrant. As with any theme park, there were a few older rides I wasn't too fond of, but even the park's older collection of roller coasters and rides were running well and were good fun.
My only criticisms of the park were the frequent breakdowns on various rides throughout the day. I understand that ride safety is the number one priority, but this was a continuous issue, and we ended up being evacuated from multiple ride queues. The other issue that hampered our day was that on a sunny and busy August Sunday, they were operating some of the park's biggest rides with only one train, making the queues unnecessarily long. I don't know whether this was intentional or due to maintenance issues, but the painfully slow queues did spoil aspects of the day.
Overall, Walibi Holland is a great park with a unique roller coaster lineup and a solid collection of other rides, making it a fantastic day out. The park's presentation is nice, it's clean and feels well looked after, and the food options are decent too. I look forward to seeing what they're planning for the future, as all of their latest investments have been...
