estate Hoenderdaell — Attraction in Hollands Kroon

I have ALOT to say about this place.

This place is really great!! I remember coming here a few years ago and since i came back to it they have really outdone themselves and upgraded A LOT! I feel very proud.

This place is not just a zoo. People are often agains't zoo's because "animals belong in the wild" but let me tell you something about this zoo.

This zoo has the intention to help animals in need. They created a lion centre to nurse them back to health. Lions they rescued from places like peoples backyards, circus', and warzones. aside from that, (theres a new thing) and now they also nurse dolphins back to health. They created a part up in the lion centre to show people the harsh truth about what happens to animals in this world to try and make a point. Which by the way, turned out extremely pretty as well. And every enclosure i've seen is absolutely beautiful and looks like a very safe space for all these lovely animals. The owners of this zoo seem like very good people for starting something like this. And i can't help but to feel proud because this zoo is my childhood.

They added a lot of new things to it including a huge restaurant! Theres 2 now actually. First there was only one that was up in the lions centre. They moved it next to the lions centre (probably because of more visitors and because of lion smell) but it turned out beautifully!

You can feed a few birds here as well. At the first restaurant you come across, you can get these cups of green food for one euro to feed those little colorful birds with. It's much fun. I recommend you bring wet towels though in case they leave a poop. Outside of their enclosure theres a washing spot too where you can wash your hands

It all looks very tidy and taken care of. The quality is insane. I really like how it's turning out. The paths are nice too. You can take more than one path and you can really walk around their enclosures, which i really like.

When you're at this zoo, you will look at all the animals and it takes a few hours to get to the end. But walking back goes a lot faster. You just take the same route you took and eventually will also see exit signs.

At the start of the zoo, you can find a souvenir shop and at the lion centre as well. The lion centre shop is really all about lions which is understandable ofcourse.

Right outside the lion centre, like i said, is now a beautiful restaurant. And next to that, theres a whole playing area for kids. With things that are clearly new and very fun for the kids. I really recommend bringing your kids here. They will have a lovely day.

Lastly, parking here is great!! At first their parking lot was tiny. But they expanded it super much and it's huge now! Even that looks so tidy and neat.

Basically everything looks fresh, new, and tidy. And i love it. I'd almost say it is all perfect even though it isn't yet finished. They seem to be doing an amazing job despite of having gone through covid! Good for them! Keep up the good work! 5...

Horrendous customer service and complete disregard for the safety of disabled people. Honestly wish I could give 0 stars.

I've been living in the Netherlands for about 4 years, and this is, by far, the worst customer service I've encountered.

There is a ramp in the tiger hunting/feeding simulator viewing area. The ramp is meant as access for those who can't use stairs.

I am disabled, with a disorder that affects my brain and central nervous system. I prefer ramps instead of stairs as they are easier for me.

When I went to walk down this ramp, I didn't see that the traction/treads had been completely worn off, to the point where the metal was extremely slippery. I took a step onto the ramp, the metal was so slick that my foot slipped out from under me, and I fell hard enough that I was barely able to walk for more than a week afterwards.

I contacted the park about this after getting home. I figured they'd want to know about this, since it could potentially be extremely dangerous, if not life threatening, for someone who is older and more frail than myself.

Instead of doing something simple to remedy the situation, like purchasing some cheap stick-on anti-slip treads...they were completely dismissive.

Because I was the first person to mention it, and because they (most likely as able-bodied people) didn't have any issue with it, it apparently isn't a problem.

I have never before randomly slipped and fell like this, and my friend also tested the ramp and said it definitely seemed a bit slick.

Saying that you're just going to wait & see if someone else gets injured?! That is so extremely irresponsible and dangerous - not to mention competely dismissive and invalidating to the disabled person who was already injured by it!

They didn't even bother responding to my last email.

What an absolute disgrace. I rarely use the word "ableist," but this really describes it perfectly.

If you want to support a place that is dismissive and uncaring about disabled...

Het is niet te vergelijken met grote namen als Amersfoort,- of Burgers Zoo, maar dat heeft dit park eigenlijk niet nodig. Het is een verborgen pareltje dat echt wel aandacht verdiend.

Park Het park is in ontwikkeling en er wordt her en der gebouwd, maar niet op een storende manier. De plannen voor een nieuwe Wadden beleving, zien er mooi uit. Het is een mooi opgezet park en gevoelsmatig verassend groot. De tropische kas was een aangename verassing (met een stukje nachtdieren). Net als de collectie dieren. Denk aan wat minder vaak voorkomende soorten zoals; gordeldieren, kleine miereneters of de rode reuzen kangaroe's. Maar ook een prachtige verzameling aan vogels. Zoals de Chilli arend, diverse kraanvogelsoorten of de humbert pinguïns. De meeste verblijven zijn ruim opgezet. Wij vonden de volières rond de arena voor sommige vogelsoorten wat klein. Het berenverblijf moet echt aangepakt worden (meer natuurlijk, meer verrijking), net als dat van de kangaroes (bij beide zijn rondom bouwwerkzaamheden). Wat onze kinderen erg leuk vonden, was het 'bord' op de informatieborden van de bewoners in de verblijven. Wat eten ze?

Speeltuin Er zijn 3 plekken km te spelen. Bij de ingang, halverwege en een grote op het einde. De laatst genoemde liggen in het park. Naast het cafetaria zijn een aantal speeltoestellen. Een overzichtelijke plek waar je als ouder rustig kan zitten en de kinderen in zicht zich prima vermaken. De glijbaan is niet heel toegankelijk voor de aller jongste kinderen. De grote speeltuin is een feestje voor jong en oud. Van kleine tot gigantische glijtorens, waterbaan, kabelbaan, wipkippen en een groot springkussen. Onze jongens hebben zich er prima vermaakt.

Sanitair en eten Er stonden wachtrijen bij alle toilet gebouwen. Zeker bij de verschoontafel (hadden wijzelf niet nodig). Het sanitair kan schoner. Wij hebben gegeten in het restaurant. Het personeel was vriendelijk, waren druk. Veel klanten, lange rijen. Wij hadden het gevoel dat ze er niet op berekend waren. De tafels werden niet afgenomen als er gasten klaar waren. Daar hadden ze geen tijd voor. De prijzen zijn hoog. Wij hadden gekozen voor een koud toetje.

Shows De jacht ging niet door ivm een defect. Je kunt mee kijken en luisteren als de maki's worden gevoerd. Informatief en leuk. De vogelshow. Educatief, soms kunnen verhalen wat korter, maar zeker leuke weetjes! En zulke prachtige dieren! Heel goed dat de autonomie van de vogels wordt gerespecteerd!

Conclusie Op her en der een 'kritiek' puntje na, is het Hoenderdaell een prima (gezins)uitje! Wij zijn er meer dan 5 uurtjes geweest. De kinderen hebben een top dag gehad. Ze hebben veel geleerd, wij hebben verwonderd en zij hebben zich ook nog heerlijk uitgeleefd in de speeltuin. De tickets verschilde aan de kassa met online bestellen, maar een prima...
