Very elaborately decorated, but sadly the story is only in Dutch, so not so great for tourists. Still, we managed to follow, and knowing the illusion that awaited us we were actually disappointed.
Weirdly, this is the case where the theming built everything up to a disappointing end. The version of this Vekoma Madhouse swinging illusion ride at Walibi Belgium is done better, where there the story continues in the final room, where as here it's sort of a "well here you go, and that's that" ending.
Come for the pre-show, that's the real part of the attraction at this one.
My opinion is probably tarnished having seen the ride dressed differently, but I really expected more. I know the Villa Volta was the first one Vekoma made, but I thought the illusion part of the ride was actually quite bland with...
Read moreI've ridden a few Vekoma madhouse rides, and for me the best is still Hex at Alton Towers, which I'd rate 4.5*. There are some little things that make Villa Volta underwhelming. The queue fails to build atmosphere, that could be because we couldn't understand the story though. There is no focal point once you're sat down in the room. There are segments of the ride where the lights are out. And the inner and outer elements didn't quite move in sync at times. The last three points both worked against the illusion.
I still love a madhouse but Villa Volta is a "one and...
Read moreAt least half of the experience here is the stories that are told inside the house. It builds up to a crescendo. Entrude! "Dit huis. Dit vervloekte huis! Het is een hel gelijk." My favourite quote from this ride. It captures the essence of what is to be expected when one walks through the doors and into the cursed room. My mum does not like this ride because it makes her dizzy. She tried it once. Loved the story and the interior. Was not fond of the ride. After so many visits, I am still in awe of the whole...
