Natuurmuseum Holterberg — Attraction in Rijssen-Holten

The museum is impressive and the surroundings even more so. Very serene and idyllic. Fun little path for the kids in the forest. We got the English guide for small kids for the forrest path - I recommend getting the Dutch one/the one for older kids and translate it if necessary. Ours was a little difficult to use. Only drawback of the experience was that everything in the museum is in Dutch only. But google translate...

When I was young, I already visited the museum when on holiday and fortunately it still exists. The stuffed animals (work of taxidermist Piet Bos - the former name of the museum) are partly presented in beautiful "diorama's" (artwork by Piet's son, Kees Bos). Het is een klein museum. Wel met leuke diorama's en ook andere presentaties. Sommige van die presentaties zijn wellicht wat saai afhankelijk van waar je belangstelling naar uitgaat. Een soort etalage met opgezette vogels lijkt niet zo interessant, maar als je het leuk vindt om de verschillen te bekijken, is dat best wel aardig. Het viel wel op, dat we door heel veel mensen zijn ingehaald, dus die stonden waarschijnlijk zo weer buiten. Ook wij waren er in anderhalf uur wel doorheen. Er zijn nog een aantal zaken ter aanvulling op het museum. Er is een natuurpresentatie gericht op kinderen (leek voor ons als 55+ niet zo). Er is ook een midgetgolf (gesloten op de dag dat wij er waren) en een paar eetgelegenheden. En er zijn natuurlijk tal van schitterende wandelroutes.
