Hyacintenbos Ockenburgh — Attraction in The Hague

A lovely flower filled forest with no urban noises. This area is filled with hyacinths and forest animals. You can hear and see various birds like finches and woodpeckers but also tiny insects. Various caterpillars, beetles and ants an be seen in the spring months

With the Dutch fondness of reclaiming land, forests tend to be manmade but when entering this area it seems more naturally grown with gnarling trees and various plants fighting for that little bit of sunlight.

A great place to be in tune with nature and let the kids explore.

Dure the months of May you might find woodpecker nests chirping away!

Als de hyacinten in bloei staan, is het er prachtig! Overal waar je kijkt, zie je de blauwpaarse bloemen. Hier en daar staat er een roze of witte tussen. Er fluiten veel vogels, mooi om te horen. Het is echt een aanrader om naartoe te gaan.

Wat ik wel erg jammer vind, is dat veel velden met hyacinten platgetrapt zijn. Mensen verpesten de bloemenpracht om een mooiere foto te maken. Alsjeblieft... doe dat niet!

Trouwens: het hyacintenbos is gratis...
