Fort aan de Drecht — Attraction in Uithoorn

We had a wonderful dinner with friends in the Fort aan de Drecht restaurant. This is NOT a pancake restaurant! The restaurant serves a 5 course chef's menu. If you have any dietary requirements it is a good idea to let the restaurant know in advance. Each course was beautifully presented . The food was delicious with a good balance of flavours and the portion size was perfect. We had the wine arrangement which really added an extra dimension to each course. One of the forts that formed a defensive line for Amsterdam. You can wander around inside and out. There are a couple of shops, an exhibition and a pancake restaurant. Good for bringing small kids. It's cc lose to Amsterdam and a nice drive. So also great as an excursion...

Historische locatie, een van de 42 forten die tezamen de stelling van Amsterdam vormen, de bescherming rond Amsterdam, maar die helaas tijdens de eerste wereldoorlog met de komst van het vliegtuig zijn functie verloor.

Het Fort aan de Drecht is een van de drie forten rondom Uithoorn. De andere twee zijn fort bij Uithoorn en fort de Kwakel.

In het fort aan de Drecht zijn thans twee restaurants gevestigd (waarvan éên een pannenkoekenrestaurant), een wijnhandel annex proeflokaal en stichting Crea (waar je allerlei creatieve cursussen kunt volgen).
