Old wooden house painted in black and green and why only these two colors, well there are multiple stories where locals believe to be true. Marken is not a museum town, with a population of 1700, people actually live there and have maintained its historical buildings. You will also come across multiple bridges which are named after the queen of...

Interesting movie about the history of Marken. The video explains why it was not swallowed up by the sea by dikes and later mounds. There are still 8 inhabited mounds on the island. The museum has different displays of traditional clothes for different occasions. They have a collection of paintings and items about the history of Marken. Cute small museum about the traditional clothing and life on the island Marken. They have a small movie (in English and Dutch) about the island that is very interesting. There is also a room that resembles an old house. There are many models with old traditional clothes. The museum can be visited in an hour. Also, the museum was managed by some sweet old ladies when we visited.
