We visited this charming little town as part of a guided tour. When we were given some free time and the weather turned rainy, we decided to seek shelter in this restaurant, hoping for a warm and welcoming place to wait out the storm.
To our surprise, what we found was the complete opposite of hospitality. The restaurant was completely empty, yet the staff only allowed us to sit at a single table, tucked away in a corner, as if they were doing us a favor. From the moment we walked in, the attitude of the staff (and what seemed to be the owners as well) made it clear we were not welcome. Their disdainful looks and obvious lack of interest in serving us were truly disgraceful.
Caught in the pouring rain, we had no choice but to leave. Thankfully, the restaurant next door was a completely different story: we were greeted with a smile and comforting hot chocolate, showing us what real hospitality looks like.
This restaurant not only failed miserably to deliver even basic courtesy, but it also turned what should have been a pleasant experience into a sour memory. If you’re looking for warmth, empathy, and decent treatment, my advice is to walk right past this place and head to the neighboring restaurant, where they truly know how to...
Read moreMore than a review, this is a recommendation! De Taanketel is a true gem. This is one of those places that I will cherish. First, the food. We ordered Hamburgers and the Ciabatta with eggplant and goat cheese. Every one in our party enjoyed their dish. The buns and Ciabatta are quality breads, the hamburgers were delicious, and from quality meat, the vegetables were fresh and tasty. The dishes exceeded our expectations by far. But even more delighting was the atmosphere and service. We were lucky to be greeted by the owner who's spirit and personality simply lights the place up. We felt most welcome. The service, albeit fast and efficient, was sprinkled with small funny stories and anecdotes. On the professional side, every detail was perfect. On the personal side, I already look forward...
Read moreDon’t recommend. Very rude staff and manager.
Upd: The staff's communication speaks volumes more than any review could. Here's what happened: our child was playing near our table, stumbled on a small step, and accidentally knocked the flower off the table. As I helped my child and picked up the flower, the waitress, who witnessed the incident, took the flower and said, "Don't let your child touch our flowers. Our owner doesn’t like this." When I pointed out the rudeness of her comment, she insisted it wasn’t rude.
I then asked to speak with the manager, who communicated in a similar manner. When I suggested an apology, he dismissed me with a wave of his hand and told us to leave the café.
Overall, the situation was quite unpleasant, and I don’t think we’ll ever come...
