This used to be the best mini golf experience in Auckland, it closed for renovations in early 2024 and reopened December 2024.
I'm sorry to say, the renovations are awful. The courses have lost of all of their themes and charms of the previous design. They have squeezed 2 courses into the space where there used to be 1.
On the day we were there it was hot, 25C, the heat reflecting from the AstroTurf surface was oppressive (Surely they knew this would happen during the design phase?). They have packed in so many holes in so tight a space, there is no room at the beginning or end of holes to wait for other groups.
It just feels like a major cash grab.
Very disappointing after all the fun we've had on the previous courses.
UPDATE:
I wanted to specifically address a point made by the owner in their reply to this review.
"Both courses have been meticulously designed and shaped by internationally renowned golf course designers, we now have real putters as well all adding to give a real golf course feel with 36 challenging holes which was the result we wanted for the venue to replace the tired worn out props we had before".
In searching for that 'real golf course feel' you've lost the essence of what made the previous venue special, the Dinosaur theme and the Safari theme.
This is where you've gone wrong in my view and judging from other recent reviews a number of other...

Drove past the newly "rejuvenated and revitalized" course the other day, and all that was going through my head was..."Why?" I was like...they've just gone and completely ruined it". Read that what had been done so far was only part 1, ( high hopes that part 2 was the animals, the Hippo in particular, getting put back in their rightful and honorable places...) NUP! Part 2 is going to be a food cart. So, to the owners of Lilliputt and Live Wire Sylvia Park... Fraser Brothers Ltd, ( Hamish, Ollie and George Fraser)....Was it too hard to just replace the astro turf?; fix and repaint the animals, the mushrooms, and the buildings?; plant new plants?; put up a roof? Yeah the place was showing it's age, but revitalizing something, doesnt always mean that what your revitalizing has to be completely replaced. I haven't played it, I don't want to play it, and neither has my partner, because we both think that what you have replaced the old courses with, is nothing but rubbish. You've gone ruined what were 2 already awesome courses, and the animals just added to it. ( no other course in New Zealand, had a Gorilla standing over a cave on the 18th hole ). #Disappointed

Read moreI Just wanted to acknowledge an amazing staff member that works here at Lilliput Tamaki Drive. I broke down in my Mercedes on Tamaki Drive on a busy Sunday afternoon in the middle of traffic at the traffic lights, Panicked and on the phone with the AA, Along came 'Karen' on her bike on her way to work at Lilliput, she came riding up to me and asked if I needed a push, I initially was taken back by what a great personality she had and the fact that she would help a perfect stranger in trouble at the drop of a hat, But I was also out of words for how thankful i was by helping me to direct traffic and push the car across the road to safety, She even reassurrd me that everything was okay and that she was also on her bike as she was having trouble with her own car.... Lilliput, What an ambassador for your Company. If you do have an employee of the month I would certainly nominate Karen for that...otherwise, you might be so kind as to mention to her that her heroism and caring nature was really, highly appreciated. Lilliput, You should be so proud of this amazing staff member you...
