This is a nice chilled out place where you can take the family to the beach, catch the ferry to Matakana Island or have a few cold ones at Omokoroa Boat Club. Head up to the point where you can get a good view of the harbour, just don't take Grandma or Grandpa - they might struggle to get up the path to Gerald Crapp reserve at the top. Take your woffers with you, but you'll need them on leads as there are plenty of signs around for dog control. If you've got children that love to scoot round on scooters, take them to the skate park back into the main part of Onokoroa. The barbecue just makes it even better nice grass area with bbq tables. Right on the beach with play ground just down from bbq. Theres a public toilets jetting to fish off. Walk down the jetty with the kids look at some fish. Take yours rods catch some fish if you please. This place is just so great for the family love it really do. Only a section of the carpark is for camping tho so be weary of the rules. There's always those who park where they shouldn't. When I arrived 5 or 6 cars were taking up the limited spaces available for campers, I don't know why, there was ample carparks for them not to take the limited camper spots available.
