Skippers Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

Decided on having lunch here for our anniversary. Food - excellent - meals were tasty and nicely presented. SERVICE - ZERO! why!! - my husband was lined up for service - 3 people arrived behind him, caught the eye of a gentleman behind the service counter and he said clearly to a server - these are my friends, serve them well. The service people, ignored my husband and served them first. Next issue - we chose a sunny table outside - these "friends" arrived after we were seated, received their food and then he proceeded to wind up the large umbrella, for his friends, without asking others in the area if they were happy. It obscured our sun, forcing us to move. Last issue - My husband asked for water for me. They said they would bring it - he finally had to go and find it for himself. I ordered the mince on toast. The mince was nice and flavourful, just the right amount of savoury. The best part for me was that it wasn't drowned in tomato base and it wasn't too rich or greasy. The poached eggs on top were cooked to perfection. The toast was dripping with melted butter and super yummy.
