I rode a trail here when the park first opened. I was so excited to come back and get a full day pass. However, I was incredibly disappointed this time. It's like the trails were built and then never maintained. The flow trails have ruts, rocks and holes in them. One of the technical trails we rode was more flowy than the flow trails. The connector trails are so rough most people ride on the road instead. We spoke to some locals afterwards and they agreed and said they either avoid the park or only ride the couple of maintained trails but you have to know which trails they are.
The staff were incredibly unhelpful. They asked if it was our first time, we said yes and they didn't explain what to do or give us any recommendations. We didn't think to ask outright because we're paying $80 for a bike park, so what are you paying for if not maintained trails? After being disappointed by our first two laps we asked what trails were maintained. The manager lady was immediately extremely rude and just said "well it depends what you like". If you like rutted, unmaintained trails then sure, this is the place for you!
I have done a lot of riding all over NZ as well as Canada and this was some of the worst riding I've done. I know it has been tough times for businesses like this during covid but this is unnacceptable. If you can't maintain the park, close half of it, reduce the price or be upfront about it.
We complained at the end of our ride and asked if we could get a refund because we didn't even do enough runs to make the $80 worth it. The girl working said the manager had stepped out so to email them. We did and no reply. Terrible...
Read moreFirst up I am overweight. That is on me. Secondly I don’t ever post reviews and if I had seen anything that suggested that the weight limit is very strict and some staff have the tact and grace of a bull in a china shop I absolutely would not have gone and saved myself that shame and humiliation.
I was right on the borderline of the weight limit. At 128kg 3kg over Nothing prepared me for the shame and humiliation one would feel at a young person in their early 20’s say “sorry we have a very strict weight limit. We can’t help you. But maybe if you took some items of clothing off that might help get under. “ my suggestion is if you have told a person their is a very strict weight limit we can’t help you absolutely don’t follow up with suggesting they can take items of clothing off. Because as far as I am concerned this was some degrading and humiliating thing the staff member was getting off on.
I really hope it is a very strict weight limit and no one at all who is right in the weight limit or slightly over got let through because that would make this experience...
Read more1 star is too generous here! I booked night zip lining for $250 on Weds 8 January. On Tuesday 7 January I am at Hagley Oval watching Super Smash cricket enjoying the day when I get an email, cancelling tomorrow's event because staff felt like using their sick days. They could have moved people around so that they are actually catering for bookings but they chose not to. They expected me to move to a daytime Zip. Ah no way!!
I paid for this in early December so at Christmas I could have put that money to other things potentially but I was really keen to go Zip Lining in the evening. When you take money off people and commit to a date, you show up that's not unreasonable on my part
This leaves me feeling that I can no longer book events with these people because these idiots will just cancel at last minute. I really thought that after the fires in early 2024 that there would be a greater "want to be there" from the people who run the park and work there. Clearly not so.
Their poxy cop out has been annoying and an inconvenience. I spent $250 here at...
