Small than when I was here 9 yrs ago. But still worth going. Was looking for Maori Taunga for my grandchildren. There were 4 stalls with greenstone and carved bone . Necklaces, earrings, rings etc . Managed to find what we were looking for😀. On an aside the food trucks and stalls were delicious 😋 large range of foods. KS cakes and creations. The cookies were delicious and well worth the money. Check out her goodies. Yummmmm sorry eaten before thought to take photos. But trees are beautiful this time of year. Blossoms everywhere.

Disappointing! An hour on the buses, one way, to get to the market, then inadequate signage to the market , once on Riccarton Park grounds. (It’s through Gate 5, fyi.) It’s held “rain or shine” - but there were only five lonely vendors (including one with fresh produce) on this rainy day, Easter Monday.

The biggest market we've visited so far in the South Island. There's lots of variety of stuff and food available in this market. A must visit when you are in Christchurch.

I had an amazing time at the market with my university mates. One of the things that stood out was the abundance of parking space, which made it very convenient for all of us to get there hassle-free. We explored various stalls and found some excellent honey and hand tools that caught our attention.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the delectable food options. Among them, I discovered my new favorite dish: the spicy hot Chicken noodles from a vibrant red stand. It was so flavorful and reminiscent of the street food in my friend's hometown, which brought back fond memories for him.

The only minor drawback was the seating arrangement. While we enjoyed our meal on the lush green lawn, it would have been even more enjoyable to have more seating and tables available. Nonetheless, it didn't dampen our spirits, and we made the most of our time together.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and I can't wait to visit the market again with whanau. The variety of goods, delicious food, and lively atmosphere made it a perfect outing...

Riccarton Sunday Market is New Zealand’s largest outdoor market and a must-visit attraction in Christchurch. Held every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9am to 2pm at Riccarton Racecourse.

By the time we arrived at about 10 am, some locals have already completed their shopping ready to leave. There we also quite a few stall not opened. There were fresh fruits and vegetables, pre-loved goods, clothing, and art, to food stalls serving up a variety of local and international cuisines. The atmosphere is lively and family-friendly, with free entertainment and music from local artists adding to the buzz. Entry, parking, and entertainment are all free, making it an accessible and affordable outing for everyone. The market is a treasure trove for bargain hunters, collectors, and foodies alike, and there’s plenty of space to relax with family and friends while enjoying delicious food from the food court. With its wide variety of goods, welcoming vibe, and community spirit, Riccarton Sunday Market is the ideal way to spend a Sunday morning in...

Definitely one of the better markets I've visited in Christchurch. Women's clothing stores impressed me the most and I enjoyed browsing the second hand tool stalls. However this wouldn't be a destination "shop" for me unless I'm after some basic workshop and garden tools, which you could purchase there at a fraction of the price of a new one. The "German" sausage we had for lunch was pretty average to say the least and at $9.50 was a "rip off" as well as the coffee at $6 we had to pay cash for. Overall I don't think I saw anything at the market that I wouldn't find at a store in a mall, for example, and most probably at a better price. I must say that we did walk the whole market and browed the majority of stalls. We arrived at the market around 12.30 and found a park pretty close to the main entrance. So if you have nothing better to do on a Sunday and the sun is shining, it's...
