Hoofbeats bar & bistro — Restaurant in Christchurch

We visited Hoofbeats Restaurants last night (16 May) with friends to celebrate my son's 50th birthday. Right from the start things did not go right, from the person taking our orders to delivery at the table. Our friends had their order within ten minutes where our meals took another thirty minutes to be severed, and then the ordered meal for my son was served with the wrong sauce., one meal of fish the batter on the fish was overcooked , hard as a rock, had to go searching for the chips and when found they too were overcooked, consequently a large portion was left on the plate. Ordered dessert and there was nowhere to place them on the table as the previous meals plates had not been cleared. Ordered coffee and had to send it back as it was not what we had ordered. My family have been going to Hoofbeats for awhile now and the meals have been great, but last night was a let down. The items on the plate have seen to be less and the prices have got bigger. From where I was sitting I saw at least four meals be returned as the order was wrong. The staff did not...

We had a very lovely roast meal today at your restaurant. My only disappointment was the difference in plate size between the standard and large serve. For anyone attending your restaurant please inform them of the size difference. For only $2 more you can get a much more decent serving. The standard plate looks more like a tea saucer to this big Kiwi bloke and i think you guys would be smarter to give those puny plates to a white elephant school fundraiser and just serve the more respectable sized option. I've had bigger roasts for a cheaper price elsewhere so this was a bit of a shock unless appetites have downsized over time. ok i get that lining up by the entrance way is a pain for all patrons trying to order dinner and get your own drinks from the bar to your dining area. but to the food that was not nice at all. i felt like i ran around most of the time trying to sort food tht was missed out and getting our own drinks een water. had to wait a while to get to the bar also. im sorry but when u pay $30.00 a meal and u get a meal that was meant to come with seasoned veges and instead has baymarie veges (that were soggy and bland) that have just been slapped on the plate and the pork belly that was very dry as well as the mash potatoes. I will not be back. It was all a complete mess. the staff were ery friendly but maybe just not experienced at all. that was the most exhausting meal...
