A beautiful coastal walk from Milford Beach to Castor Bay Beach along the Beach Road footpath. Bring your kids and the dog - this short stretch of North Shore coastline is perfect for the whole family to explore and get active. Start your walk at Milford Reserve at the northern end of Milford Beach. Milford is a swimming beach with picturesque views to Rangitoto Island. You'll find parking, as well as public toilets and a beach volleyball space. kids of all ages will love the nautical-themed beachfront playground with pirate ship, rope climbing and balance beams. Head over the Wairau Stream Pedestrian Bridge. If you time it right, you might see the bridge lift to let boats pass from the Milford Marina to the Hauraki Gulf. The bridge looks great when lit up at night. After the bridge, turn right and follow Beach Road north for around 500 metres. There are two short walkways from Beach Road with stairs down to Castor Bay: one outside 61A Beach Road and another outside 75 Beach Road. Keep an eye out for the walkway signs as they can be easy to miss - and the walkways can look like private driveways. If you're taking the pram or bike (or if you miss the walkway shortcuts!), avoid the stairs by continuing along Beach Road and turning right down The Esplanade to reach the beach. End your walk at Castor Bay Beach, and enjoy a well-earned swim or picnic underneath the shady trees. Here you'll find another great kids playground, more public toilets and a grassy area to run around...

Very nice walk along the cliff tops with a couple of good lookout spots with excellent views out to the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto Island, and back to Auckland. Well maintained grounds in the park area, with WWII gun embankments and good toilet facilities and parking. The only real negative, when I was there, was a side walk down the cliff to the beach below was broken and closed due to slippages. I really wanted to go down there and it would really enhance the walk. Hopefully, the council will get onto fixing this in the...

Small beach in Castor Bay. It has a fairly large playground as well as a nice tree for climbing. There is grassy area around the playground for picnics or just to sit on the grass. The beach itself isn't very big but it is nice. It is surrounded on either side by rocks (rockpools during low tide) and if you head north (left) over the rocks it leads to another, longer beach which has a set of stairs that lead up to JF Kennedy Memorial Park. Nice place for a swim,...

Such a beautiful little beach with nice spots under the trees to have some shade. I like that the beach is not too long and big, so it feels more personal - It’s good to come here with kids because you can see them from everywhere. The platform in the water is fun to swim to and good rocks to climb onto. Public toilets straight at the beach and an ice-cream truck that stops there once or twice a day!

Great place for family time, several big trees create massive shades, playground for kids, you can choose between picnic on the grass or sunbathing on the sand, go for a swim, walk, talk, or simply enjoy the view. Don't forget your mosquito spray, those tiny insects won't leave a spot. And sunscreen of course, this is our must have.

Great beach and foreshore area with golden sand, lots of shade and generally a nice crowd. Note that parking is very limited, so on busy days you might have trouble finding a park near the beach. Gets nice and deep quickly which is good compared to some beaches in Auckland. There’s also a pontoon which is an added bonus.
