Stunning green space with rolling hills and breathtaking views. The park boasts a lovely beach with quite shallow entry, making it an ideal spot for those who are less experienced in the water. If you need a break from the sun, Waterfall Gully offers some shade and respite. There you will find a nice path that winds through with boardwalks and a few steps. My favourite viewpoint is from and around the observation tower. And if you're up for a camping trip, there's even a campground available (Te Haruhi Bay Campground). Just make sure to book through the Auckland Council website. Shakespeare Regional Park is a good spot for a trial run, walk, swim, and a paddle. It's worth noting that no dogs are allowed in the park, so be sure to leave your furry friend at home and enjoy the beauty of the park for yourself!

Shakespear Regional Park is a wonderful place to spend a peaceful day outdoors. The scenery is truly beautiful, with a perfect mix of open grasslands, forest paths, and coastal views. Walking through the forest while listening to the sound of birds creates a very calming and refreshing atmosphere. The park is well maintained, and the walking tracks are easy to follow. It’s an ideal spot for both casual visitors and those who enjoy longer hikes. What I like most is how quiet and natural the area feels, even though it’s not far from the city. Overall, it’s a great destination for anyone who wants to relax, enjoy nature, and take in the stunning New Zealand landscape.

Lovely morning it was lovely to spend some time re-energising drinking in nature. Took a short bush walk up past a waterfall. Being a bird sanctuary means we were able to see Bellbird's up close and hear there song high in the canopy over head. Tui's, Wood pigeons, Fantails, Wax Eyes, Rosella's. Only regret not taking our proper camera. So peacefull & cathartic - well worth doing.

"Shakespear Regional Park is an absolute gem nestled near Auckland, New Zealand. From the moment I entered the park, I was surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. The coastal views are simply stunning, and the diverse range of walking trails offers something for every adventurer. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, this park has it all.

The birdlife here is phenomenal, and I was lucky enough to spot some rare and beautiful species. The lush greenery and pristine beaches make this park a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

The facilities are top-notch, with clean restrooms and well-maintained picnic areas perfect for enjoying a relaxing day out. The visitor center provides valuable information about the park and its ecosystem, adding educational value to the experience.

One of the highlights for me was the camping area. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the fresh, salty breeze was a truly rejuvenating experience. The camping facilities are well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

I highly recommend visiting Shakespear Regional Park to anyone looking for a day of outdoor adventure, a peaceful retreat, or a memorable camping experience. It's a place that truly showcases the natural wonders of New Zealand and leaves a lasting impression on all who visit. I can't wait to return to explore more of this beautiful coastal haven and create more...

Another treasure in Auckland which is a must visit place. Situated in the Whangaparaoa peninsula, this regional park has something to offer for everyone; with beautiful bays/ beaches, pastures, native trees and bushes, cliffs, look out areas etc to name a few. Also, a place of historical importance, the site includes a defence area where you can see pill boxes and search lights used by NZ army during world war 2 to defend the potential threat from Japanese attack.

Car parks are available around the park at four sites. Ample of public toilets, well maintained and tidy. We started our walk from Waterfall gully. Took the Heritage trail combined with the lookout track, adding to approx 6 kms. Suits all age and health groups. There are a few steep walks but quite doable with average fitness. Don't forget your sun blocks, hats and water as the walk includes open spaces and pastures, can get real hot during summer.

Beginning of the Heritage trail is very interesting with lots of birds watching to do along with great scope for amazing photography ( see pics). The hill top gives an outstanding panoramic view of the Auckland City, Wenderholm, Waiheke, Coromandel etc on all sides(pics added). This also includes a farm where you could see sheeps, lambs and cows which will be interesting for children.

Time needed: Approx 2.5 hours incl breaks; though it depends on the trails you take.

Difficulty: Easy to medium

Distance from CBD:...

Seaside Serenity Where ocean meets the emerald land, A haven hushed, a tranquil strand. A park, a place of peace profound, Where nature’s beauty can abound. The salty kiss, a gentle breeze, Caresses softly, through the trees. The sunbeams dance, a golden sight, As shadows lengthen, fades the light. The children laugh, a joyful sound, As they scamper ‘cross the grassy ground. Building castles, grand and tall, As waves crash ‘gainst the seawall. The elderly sit, serene and still, Gazing out, across the hill. A world away, their worries cease, As seagulls cry, and ocean’s peace. The tide rolls in, a rhythmic sigh, As seabirds soar across the sky. A canvas painted, hues of blue, A masterpiece, forever new. The pier extends, a wooden way, Where fishermen cast lines all day. A patient hope, a quiet dream, A tranquil moment, a serene scene. Beneath the cliff, a hidden cove, A secret place, where lovers rove. The water’s edge, a sandy shore, A place to rest, forevermore. The setting sun, a fiery ball, Casts shadows long, ‘fore night does fall. The stars emerge, a twinkling sight, As darkness claims the fading light. A park by sea, a sacred space, A place of peace, a tranquil grace. A sanctuary, a haven’s keep, Where weary souls may...
