From the Dicky's Flat car park we walked towards the Karangahape Gorge and the Windows walk. The walk is open to the Crown Mines and a little further but is gated shut at the Windows Walk and on crossing the suspension bridge at that point. However, you can walk from Dicky's Flat car park to here, approx 1 hour each way but you have to turn round to come back. It is an excellent walk, pretty flat, very scenic with many swimming spots in warmer weather. Best to have a torch for the tunnel, approx 80m long, as the floor of the tunnel is rocky with pools of water, but you can manage without getting your feet wet if careful. Approximately 15 minutes walk from the cark park. There is a long tunnel where we had to take our shoes off as it was full of paddles of water. Not recommending to walk barefoot as we did, however it's totally doable if you have no alternative.
