Definite must see (even if you're not a kid). The exhibits are cleverly thought out, informative and fun. A huge amount of effort and expense must have gone into this and despite it all being in a small space, it still manages to do a great job of conveying the scale of the prehistoric beasties. As well as the various lifelike reconstructions of dinosaurs (some animatronic) there's some fun pop culture touches, like the free arcade games (including the retro 1980s classic Dragon's Lair) and the mini Jurassic Park outside that you access through a door painted like a TARDIS.

We stumbled across this little gem while out for a walk and are so glad we did! The owners, who moved down from Auckland to share their incredible dinosaur collection, were super friendly and welcoming. The place is spotless, well laid out, and packed with fascinating exhibits and information about all kinds of dinosaurs 🦖🦕. There was so much to see and learn, and it kept all of us engaged. It ended up being the talking point of our family for the rest of our time in Ratahi. Highly recommend a visit!

Do not miss this place! It's fantastic. If you are in the travelling in the area its worth the stop, even if you need to change your route and go via Raetihi. My son (6) could not stop talking about it for days after, and the whole way through he was so excited he wanted to visit every room and ever exhibit. "Shhh Mummy I can hear a dinosaur in the back yard I think its a real one in there!" It is magical. Well done Ian!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 An Absolute Hidden Gem! A Must-Visit for All Ages!

The Dinosaur House in Raetihi is truly phenomenal! From the moment we walked in, we were transported into a prehistoric wonderland that sparked excitement, curiosity, and pure joy. Every single detail—from the lifelike dinosaur models to the interactive exhibits—was incredibly well done and thoughtfully curated.

The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. It's clear that this place is a labour of love, and it shines through in every corner.

Kids were in absolute awe, and even the adults couldn’t stop smiling! We especially loved the fossils, the moving dinosaurs, and the outdoor area. It’s educational, fun, and incredibly unique—definitely not something you’d expect to find in a small town like Raetihi, which makes it even more special.

💯 A+++ experience! If you’re anywhere near the central North Island, do not miss this magical place. It’s the kind of spot that leaves a lasting impression and makes you feel like a kid again.

Can’t wait to visit...

This is such a great stop for anyone who loves dinosaurs! My 11yo and 9yo kids had a ball roaming through each room and admiring the gigantic dinosaur models, many of which are animatronic and even roar at you! I wish we had brought our lunch to enjoy in the garden area, but the kids loved dusting off fossil replicas in the sandpit and taking photos in the jurassic park jeep. We weren't expecting to see live birds and live water lizards but that was a nice treat. There is even a room upstairs to play old-style video games featuring dinosaurs! We enjoyed chatting to the owner whose love of all things dinosaurs really made this outing a highlight of...

This place is awesome & exceeded my expectations my miles!. First & foremost, we were greeted by the loveliest staff who were so, so friendly & made us feel so welcome (and the GORGEOUS rainbow Lorikeet, Tuki). They had a couple of beautiful lizards there too. They had a variety of rooms to explore with so many awesome things to see!. The dinosaur statues were wicked! Some of them even moved which was wicked!. It was super affordable too! $12.00 each for an adult, $10 for a child & under 2’s are free!. We’ve been binge watching ‘Life on our planet’ on Netflix after our visit. Thank-you so much guys!! This was one of the...
