Parking is limited as it is just the side of the road. Awesome place with so many memories! I often go with my family when in the rotorua area. There are no facilities for changing ect. Be advised there are signs regarding Amebic Meningoencephalitis (did I spell it right?) which I believe is linked to meningitis (which to my knowledge can be fatal). However, I have gone a buch of times and never had an issue and neither has anyone else I know. Do not put your head under the water! If you were going to get the bacteria this would be why. The signs are there to let you know about possible dangers and to prevent Wai-O-Tapu or the government from being held liable. Don't go if you don't want to, but it is a great place. There is lots of native...

I think we hit the jackpot with only a few people coming and going. It was amazing we only planned on spending a hour or so but were there for 4hours. Unlike the various spas we tried this had the perfect balance between hot and cold. Seriously fun in the flowing water as well. This place is seriously special 😍. So unique. A hot and a cold river converging, I would say, it's definitely worth a visit. As any river you just need to be mindful of obstructions underwater. Sticks and rocks are prevalent obviously mind your step. Always check the temp of the water before stepping straight in as it van be Seriously hot in...

Criminal warning!!! I went there on the 19th Sept with my parents, We wanted to go to the official site but it was closed It was a big mistake i ever made during my trip. Because the bridge area was abit narrow and full I decided to park our motorhome abit further so traffic can passed easily. We stopped and took off just 10 mnts to take the pictures , went back to our vechicle just to find that our stuff had been stolen from our van.

I think these criminals have been done this many time, so becarefull not to leave your valuable item behind or just skip this area for your...

This was way cool! And hot! Well worth the free experience. Don't put your head in though, as signs suggest.

What an amazing find! Two minutes off the state highway between Rotorua and taupo onto Waiotapu Loop road. Two Rivers that meet. One is cold and one is hot geothermal water. You can choose to sit in a very hot spot or a place where the waters merge. Kids loved it. Base is sand and rock, and water is murky and smells like sulfur, so may not be everyone's best fit, but we loved it cos it's free! Other hot commercial pools in the area are so pricey. Similar to Japanese Onsen. Don't put your head under as geothermal water can cause amoebic meningitis if swallowed.
