This is an absolute must-do experience, with the claim of the largest commercially rafted waterfall being just one of the highlights. From the moment you arrive at basecamp, every detail is meticulously planned to ensure an unforgettable adventure. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. Upon arrival, we were greeted with humor and warmth by the guides, immediately putting us at ease. After donning our suits, life vests, and helmets, we hopped on a bus for a short journey—across the street, of all places. Our guide, Sam, was nothing short of exceptional. His wit and humor kept us entertained throughout the entire experience, which lasted approximately 45-60 minutes on the river. From thrilling rapids to exhilarating drops, there wasn't a dull moment on the water. Opportunities to swim through rapids added an extra layer of excitement, ensuring everyone got their fair share of thrills. Upon returning to basecamp, hot showers awaited to warm us up before changing. And to cap off the adventure, we gathered to view the photos captured by the talented river photographer, offering a glimpse into our wild journey through the woods. This rafting excursion easily ranks among the best we've experienced worldwide. The water temperature was perfect, and for those feeling the chill, wetsuit bottoms, jackets, and boots are available. I'd recommend bringing a towel, warm clothes for afterward, and some flip flops for changing. Other than that, every aspect of the trip is expertly taken care of, ensuring an unforgettable adventure from start to finish.

Our white water rafting adventure on the Kaituna River was truly exceptional, thanks to the outstanding team. Our guide, Malcolm, was thoughtful and caring from start to finish, especially attentive to my parent in her 60s. He patiently waited for us to translate instructions, ensuring she felt comfortable and included. His energy and confidence kept the entire group happy and free from nerves. The lifeguard who followed us did a fantastic job, providing an extra layer of safety and reassurance throughout the journey. Additionally, the photographer made the experience fun and captured brilliant shots that we’ll cherish. Their professionalism and enthusiasm contributed significantly to an unforgettable adventure. If you’re seeking a thrilling and well-supported white water rafting experience, I highly recommend Kaituna Cascades. The team’s dedication to ensuring a memorable and safe adventure is truly commendable.

Sam was excellent at explaining everything and calming some nerves prior to the trip. I also thought it was lovely to hear about Māori culture and how that related to the river we were rafting on. We had Caruzo as our guide who was also excellent and kept us all safe throughout the trip while also having a good sense of humour. The river was warm, we were provided with wetsuits, water shoes and jackets. Out of all of the activities we did in Rotorua, this was certainly the best and I couldn’t recommend it more

The company sells the package with the photo option included. You buy it and when you receive the photo, they charge you again. In addition, they sell the option of attending the pools of a club after rafting: don't fall for this scam. First of all, you are not warned that the only way to access the place is by boat - they didn't tell me; I did the rafting and when I finished the boat had already left (good thing they gave me back the money - just because I complained too; if not, that's why it would stay). If you want to buy this plus, buying it there at the store is cheaper...
