Rotorua Zipline – Joy, spirit, and laughter between the trees
Some experiences wake something deep within you—and Rotorua Zipline was one of those.
Our guides, Ellie and Tu, were the kind of humans that make the world better. Funny, calm, kind, and deeply connected to the land. Their jokes were quick, their safety checks quieter but constant, and their presence made you feel like you were in the very best hands.
And that’s what it felt like—being held by nature and by people who truly care. From the first step into the forest, you could feel the wairua, the spirit of the land. And as we flew through ancient trees, it felt like joy itself was strung between the zip lines.
They even handed us native leaves to nibble on—whether for healing, connection, or just for the story—I was in. Because when you trust your guides, you trust the process. And what a beautiful process it was.
This isn’t just adventure. This is soul play. A reminder that fun is sacred. That laughter and courage belong in the same breath. That nature is not a backdrop—it’s the main event.
It’s for everyone—all ages, all backgrounds, all comfort levels. You don’t have to be an adrenaline junkie. You just have to be ready for a little magic.
To the whole team—thank you. What you do matters. And it lingers long after the harness is unclipped.

I found a last minute deal on BookMe and had an amazing time. Being winter and low season, it was a 1:1 tour with Johnny, who is an absolute legend.
I expected to have some fun doing Ziplining which I'd wanted to try for ages, but this is far more. Johhny was happy to share his Maori culture, history of the area and connection to the land.
It's amazing, being an Aussie how little I knew about the history of NZ and Maori culture. This experience taught me a lot and gave me a greater appreciation for this beautiful country.
The Ziplines were built with consideration for the environment at every point. You can see where the board walk accommodates branches, instead of cutting them to make way.
Their passion for conservation is inspiring and everyone gets to plant a virtual tree. Your tree is a token and each will mean 1 tree gets planted in your name come spring.
I also got to try some kawakawa tea and fresh leaves straight off the plant, a traditional Maori medicinal plant.
As a bonus, Johhny took lots of great photos and videos of me and the beautiful landscape. We had a laugh, great chat and a wonderful experience all up.
Next time I'll come back and try...
Read moreThe scenery around the zipline was stunning. The boardwalks and tower things you zipline from were all beautifully made and it's great that they've been designed to be removed to leave the surrounding area as it is. There were many informative plaques dotted throughout the walks which were good as sometimes if you end up in a larger group the wait can feel a bit long. I really appreciate the effort to show respect to the local traditions. Our guides did a wonderful job at comforting a few of the people in the tour who were a bit nervous. I like how this company made the effort to distinguish themselves from other ziplining tours I've done, the kawakawa (local plant) tea was a nice touch. My favourite part of the tour was the swing-bridge, which again, was something I'd not come across on other tours I've done. I really can't fault anything about the experience and the only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because the rafting I did beforehand (run out of the same site) was so amazing nothing was...
