This is great tunnel to go though. You can bike or walk through it. We started from Waikino and walked downhill to Karangahake Hall. We left a car at both ends so we did not need to do the return walk. This tunnel is very cold. The floor is very good and flat. We had small children and they really enjoyed biking in it. 1 KM long tunnel with interesting orange lighting. you get to the tunnel by starting on the Karangahake Gorge walk over the bridge which is over the Road then through the tunnel to another bridge at the other end (which is under the main Road.
