Great alternative route to the cathedral cove walk. The view from the lookout point is beautiful and you can see cathedral cove beach from up there - no beach access! Great walk for families as it is not too steep and the walk goes across private farmland and you might be lucky to see sheep and cows 😊 Great parking!

Google directions are wrong. There is no access to the beach/bay. So many people including us drove there just to see the sign that says so. Find another spot to access Cathedral Cove. E.g in Hahei

De lookout is te bereiken via een zijweg van de weg naar Catedral Cove. Het bord zegt dat je er 50 minuten over doet, maar in 40 minuten lukt het ook. Het is echt de moeite om dit punt ook te bezoeken, er is een mooi platform gemaakt waar je een prachtig zicht hebt. Het is heen en terug, maar op het einde is er ook een lus.

A must do track!! The viewing platform at the end gives you awesome, expansive views of the Te-Whanganui-O-Hei marine reserve and islands as far as the eye can see. There's some good spots along the track for viewing, and views of the Cathedral Cove Beach. Just breath-taking - a photographer's dream! Easy walk, suitable for families or less able people. A great 15min walk to a beautiful Lookout point. The trail is off of the main track just befoe going down to the Cathedral beach on your left hand side.
