Long, sweeping, unspoilt beach with white sand, backed by deep dunes protected for their nature-value. If you like busy beaches with lots of buzz this is definitely not for you. Great place for big-sky views. Walk to the northern end for estuary and bird life. Tide can vary from rolling breakers to mill-pond flat. Bach Cafe has outdoor seating; good coffe and nice food.

A very pretty almost white beach, the beach stretches for miles, so it's nice for a walk. You can ride a horse on the beach and if you like fish, you can catch it yourself very well. With cloudy weather it is very beautiful, specialy the skies, so bring your camera.

Must stop beach on the way to Auckland to Whangarei. Clean water and in right temperature to spend some time dipping. The facilities(shower etc) can improve but whatever it lacks in man made facilities makes up for it with the natural beauty.

Boiiiiiiiii Ruakaka is amazing. Can't tell you enough. Looking for a place to catch up with some old mates over a few beersies? Just head on down to the Ruakaka beach. Got a hot date you want to impress with your (obviously) hot bod? Just wander out on to the beach, all the excuse you need to start stripping. Maybe you've just had a long week and are wanting some wind down time, sure, go grab a drink, a nice comfy chair/beanbag (beanbag is my personal preference) and a book and enjoy the serenity of salty air and a cool breeze. While I'm here I might aswell also say the lifeguards are amazing, s/o to The...

This is a wonderful beach with beautiful white sand. If you like hunting for shells, this is probably not your kind of beach. But it is perfect for laying out and catching some rays, or wading close to shore. A lifeguard is on duty, but you have to stay fairly close to their station. I heard this was New Zealand's top rated beach. It was...
