Sandcastle B&B — Hotel in North Island

The photos are flattering. This is bach accommodation in a nice house: rather basic, a bit juvenile, a bit short on facilities. It is a roomy suite that can take up to six people but there is no proper bathroom! A toilet, a separate shower and a tiny kitchenette/laundry in lieu of a real private bathroom. Also, beware: B&B should read B&b, as the breakfast is very minimal — cornflakes, yogurt and a tiny bit of canned fruit — not even a toaster. Overall too expensive for what’s on offer. There should be a distinction between B&B (where a reasonably substantial breakfast is expected) and accommodation where breakfast is merely included (and thus could mean anything). 04/03/2022 - One night stay for a local wedding. Husband, one year old daughter and myself. 5/5 stay. Allan and Debbie were superb hosts and made us feel right at home. They were more than happy to share a few laughs with us and also graciously offered to watch my daughter if I wanted to have some adult time out. Lovely setting, spacious and well priced accommodation, yummy continental breakfast and just a minute walk to the beach. The only thing that let us down, was not staying longer.
